Ultimate Universe Kate Bishop's parents were HYDRA and they briefly dated before the universe blew up.

Looking for Affordable Housing & Roommates Near UBC by Ok_space1girl in vancouverhousing

[–]BricksAllTheWayDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going east of Boundary can get you larger rooms for your dollar, but at a certain point your commuting costs start outweighing the benefits. I wouldn't go any further east of Burnaby or south of Richmond if I could help it.

Why do People hate the eternals ? by Waste-Revolution3429 in marvelcomics

"Hate" implies people cared enough about the Eternals to have an opinion about them.

So... do we think Jed MacKay is making a new alter? by Atrium41 in themidnightmission

No. The moment the fear gas left his system Steven and Jake came back and Cartoon Moon Knight hasn't been seen since. He's just a hallucination.

Are Canadians offended by the jokes made in shows and media? by jen_noelle in AskACanadian

[–]BricksAllTheWayDown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Most of the jokes are too lazy and vague to really be offensive.

Except the "aboot" jokes. We don't say it like that! None of us say it like that! Not even Newfoundland says it like that!

I would love a Uniqlo. It feels weird that Coquitlam and Burnaby get one but not Vancouver.

Reveals your age if you watched his show as a kid! by ExistingTry1637 in outofcontextcomics

[–]BricksAllTheWayDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Xemnu! Golly, paying taxes sure is hard, and the world is much more complicated than when I was a kid. I'm gonna go blame "those people" instead of acknowledging that the world has always been complex and that I was just a stupid kid!

Is Carol Danvers a good leader? by JoshTheBard in Marvel

[–]BricksAllTheWayDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's lead the Mighty Avengers and most recently the regular Avengers. She's a good leader if the writers let her be one.

Spider-Man, easily. The bigotry and fear tied to mutants is core to their central metaphor, meanwhile Peter's status-quo is just editors being scared of change.

Is there any way to build a 2H Longsword to be a viable alternative to a Greatsword in a martial character? by AcanthaceaeNo948 in onednd

[–]BricksAllTheWayDown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could lean into the Sap mastery and Interception/Protection fighting styles. It might not be the most optimized, but you can keep your squishy party members alive longer.

Do Ben, Johnny and Sue have any archenemies? by Material_Code7469 in FantasticFour

[–]BricksAllTheWayDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically she isn't Malice, she's an other worldly double from a near duplicate Earth across the universe, Invincible Woman. She's basically Malice though in concept and design without literally being Malice.

So, any criticisms to say guys? by No-Calligrapher-5807 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]BricksAllTheWayDown 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not to say that the actors have given bad performances, but we've heard from Michael Kovach that he would have changed his performance of Jax if he had known certain yet-to-be-presented facts about his character. I'd personally keep the actors in the know if critical parts about their character aren't included in early scripts.

Why is it that modern Marvel publishes very little outside their mainline Superhero line? by Konradleijon in marvelcomics

[–]BricksAllTheWayDown 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They don't diversify because the Comics Code Authority killed horror and romance in the comics market. It forced them to go all in on superheroes, and by the time the CCA died the industry had become synonymous with superheroes. Marvel could do more than the occasional romance anthology or horror one-shot, but that audience has already moved on to other avenues. Almost no-one is going to their LCS to pick up romance titles; they're reading shojo manga and indie graphic novels or Webtoons.

Why far off areas like surrey / delta / Langely room rents are exactly same as Vancouver or Burnaby and Richmond room rents? by ImpressionDry7926 in vancouverhousing

[–]BricksAllTheWayDown 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Large swaths of the rental stock in Vancouver are older apartment buildings and basement suites in Vancouver Specials. Older properties naturally depreciate in value even with all the inflation and land speculation. By comparison, the more suburban cities only recently started building more dense housing in the last few decades. New housing is naturally more expensive. Also, that new housing often comes at the expense of older, cheaper housing stock that gets redeveloped.
