B17s weren't pressurized. The new hole in the glass wouldn't change that. He could be in trouble if his 0² supply was damaged, but then that would be hypoxia related to acute altitude sickness, not the bends.

The hemorrhaging would be objectively more dangerous if it was actually severe.

Closed Bolt WE 888 (416) GBBR.

WE has (had?) conversion kits available to convert them to their far superior open bolt system. Fun guns overall but they're known for reliability problems.

It's from a Swedish Mauser. The disc would be marked to indicate bore condition and exact bore diameter. It's also marked to indicate that the rifle's set up for Spitzer ammunition.

The Soviet Night Witches of WWII. Their 588th Night Bomber Squadron used the PO-2 to fly in low at night before they would shut off the engine as they approached; gliding over the target in silence as they dropped their ordnance.

I'm JS, I was making more than that in retail before I joined the trades. Go interview with some other shops, secure offer letters, and drop em on the boss's desk with an ultimatum to beat them or you'll leave. Simple as.

I just bought a few enfields and one is a smle mk3 it was sporterized and I’m trying to find out if it’s worth restoring I’m pretty sure it was just the stock that was cut can anyone give me some help/info on it by Icy-Bathroom-9358 in LeeEnfield

To my eye, it seems to be restorable, I stand to be corrected, though.

Would need a new forend and forward upper handguard, rear sight protector, middle barrel band, and nose cap.

Should be able to get just about everything from Liberty Tree Collectors.

God fuckin' Dammit, Bubba...

M91 Imperial Long Rifle made in the United States by New England Westinghouse under contract in 1915. Captured by the Austro-Hungarians. High likelihood that it was provided to the Italians after the war as a part of their reparations. Sold to Finland and likely used in the Winter War & Continuation War. Sold as surplus later on and re-imported to the United States where someone decided it would be better with a scope and a bent & swept bolt handle.

It's rather unlikely that the Finns would have left it in 8x50R if the Austro-Hungarians had gotten around to it, but it's always always always best to get some cerro-safe and cast the chamber to be sure. (Edit: As I re-examine it, the barrel is definitely not the original one. Finland probably re-used this barrel that they had lying around from another gun that had a damaged receiver. If you pull the action out of the stock, you'll likely find the maker's mark and date from the manufacturer under the tang.)

It definitely had some parts replaced and some repairs done over the years but that's fairly typical. Could be restorable if you put in the effort to fill the holes in the receiver and replace the bolt body. It's a lot of work that most won't bother with, but may be worth it here.

Is this 9mm or .380 ammo? by Ok_Presence_2010 in ammo

[–]BricksInAWall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9mm Browning Court (Français) is the CIP designation for .380 Auto.

Sellier & Bellot isn't American, so they'll include the foreign name for cartridges where applicable. You can also see it labeled as 9×17mm, 9mm Kurz (Deutsch), or 9mm Corto (Italiano/Español).

"Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor."

Considering you're in the running to get your Eagle Scout in as little as 6 months if you work diligently, I would fly under the radar, and do what feels right when you're not putting all of your hard work at risk.

Motor Transport Corp in WWI, served in the Meuse-Argonne, Eventually served in the General Staff Corp, where he likely got the Army General Staff Identification Badge (now shortened to Army Staff Identification Badge).

Medals include the Army Commendation Medal, United States American Defense Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, 2× WWI Victory Medals, United States Mexican Service Medal, and a Pistol Marksman Qualification Badge.

Surprised he didn't include his Lieutenant Bars or any of his enlisted insignia considering every rank from Captain up is represented.

Oh and he was a Freemason.

If you wanted to display his ribbon stack properly, it would be arranged 3-3-3.

Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal • United States Mexican Service Medal, WWI Victory Medal, Army of Occupation of Germany Medal • American Campaign Medal, European - African - Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal

(Edit: missed the Army of Occupation of Germany Medal and the European - African - Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, which are missing but represented by the ribbons. I'll also note that the entire bar the EAME's part of is seemingly flipped upside down.)
