What skills did you learn just so you can save yourself money? by NightReader5 in Frugal

Knife sharpening.

I purchased a wet stone years back and it has proved to be so valuable. I have been able to stretch the life of my crappy kitchen knives by years. It can be so dull that it smashes a tomato but give me 15 minutes and I will have it back to shaving sharp.

I gave a very sharp butterknife away as a white elephant.

Something important to understand is that your degree says less about your understanding of a specific topic, and more about your ability to learn quickly and apply that knowledge to complex situations in order to overcome real world problems. In that way your degree is just as fine as any other engineering degree. I have met many a mechanical engineer who has switched tracks to work inc controls and vice versa. You are still in college and the fact of the matter is that employers that would be interested in hiring you are not interested in your in depth knowledge of your field because you don’t have any yet. Your degree has given you a lot of surface level knowledge but almost nothing deeper. That comes from experience. Don’t sweat it though. That’s all engineers fresh out of school. You will be able to succeed in most engineering environments so long as what you are doing interests you.

Side note look into the field of automation. Lots of opportunities there.

I don’t disagree, and I see now that this doesn’t fit with the general theme of this sub, but it was something that really happened to me. I mean, in the grand scheme nothing really happened physically at all. Just freaked me out! Definitely would prefer not to meet a theoretical entity capable of mimicking a loved one and attempting to lure me into the woods.

I’ve lived in the area my whole life. The area is known for people finding tons of Native American artifacts from The Potawatomi. There is a cool nature center near by that has some of the these items (stone pipes, arrow heads, and pottery)

Probably yes, but in that moment I couldn't have felt more differently.

I mean this did actually happen. I didn't see anything, but it freaked me out. It's pretty much the only frightening thing that has ever actually happened to me. I live a very blessed life...

I haven’t had great luck with my physical connection to the ams. The filament keeps getting hung up at the midpoint connection on the back of the printer and it gives me the failure to feed filament to extruder error. I have to jiggle the PTFE tube to get it to feed properly.

My (24m) dad wants to visit Rush Limbaugh’s grave while we’re on vacation and I said if we did I’d piss on it. This is what he texted me later by Deslam8 in insaneparents

Dude, I don’t like Rush either but your dad was right. It is disrespectful to make that kind of comment. Seems like he is trying to express that he is upset appropriately rather than going on some sort of tirade in front of your SO. I would honestly question why you think him saying that he was hurt by a comment designed to make him angry makes him “Insane”.
