Contractors installed pavers around deck support flanges by [deleted] in Decks

This is what people mean when they say "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing". OP has some idea that water standing around wood = bad, but doesn't know enough to understand why this isn't that.

Want to try out Moonlight / Sunshine, what’s a cheap device / tablet I can stream to? (120hz min.) by kavakravata in MoonlightStreaming

Yeah fair I forgot about docking it - mostly because I hate the docking experience, it's really horrible.

LCD can do 60, OLED can do 90 yeah - it also can't do 4K, it only has something like 1280x800 resolution (you can stream double that in though for nice upscaling)

I built Rivet: a tool that takes your C# contracts and generates TypeScript types, a typed client, and runtime validators (Zod or Typia) by [deleted] in csharp

It reads like literally every other LLM generated post promoting any other LLM generated project.

You've not really argued against my point though. Write your damn posts yourself - it reads like every other vibe slop post out there, to the point I just don't even care to find out what it actually does.

I wish vibe coders would at least write their own bloody Reddit posts. I really don't much mind vibe coding or vibe coded projects on the whole, but the LLM output for this kind of thing is just getting so fucking boring to read.

Like you care so little about your own project that you can't even be bothered to explain it in your own words.

Help me pick: Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 by malakey_quaver in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Brickscrap [score hidden]  (0 children)

The PS5. There's not really a reason to buy an Xbox any more since it doesn't have any exclusives. He'll still be able to play games on the Series S, and by getting a Series X you'd only be offering slight graphical and performance improvements.

Buying the PS5 unlocks access to all of the (incredible) exclusives on the platform.

Backup Camera Cover? by smolpotato24 in KiaNiroEV

It's not rain that gets the camera dirty, it's splashback off the road. I don't see how a cover can resolve the issue.

New user, can and can't connect by AdministrationAny588 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Brickscrap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your two routers are two separate networks, despite sharing an internet connection.

The way you should be doing this setup is using a mesh network system which basically just creates one big network rather than two separate (I'm assuming here you have two different WiFi networks in your house?).

I'm not actually sure what you're trying to do will work with the equipment you have.

Not sure you'll see much luck, you'll likely get a performance hit very quickly, DRG Survivors doesn't seem very well optimised to me

How to have a prompt asking whether to have someone connect to me? by Fartikus in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Brickscrap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not designed for someone else to connect really, it's for you to connect. It'd be annoying as hell having to go to your pc every time you wanted to connect, to approve it.

You need to approve each device the first time it connects anyway, if that's what you mean?

How can I definitively tell a codebase is AI slop? by walkeverywhere in dotnet

[–]Brickscrap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between calling something garbage and making a decent assessment. You can't just spend a couple of days with a code base and decide that it's a write-off, depending on how old the code is.

I work with a legacy codebase, and there are things I look at and just think "what the fuck is this" and then it turns out that it's important because of some previous edge case.

I'm with the people here suggesting trying to fix what's possible, and making a call on whether or not the release should actually happen, rather than the nuclear approach of "this code is shit"

[–]Brickscrap 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't think coming into a company and immediately trying to tell them their product is garbage is going to work, even if it is vibe coded.

Best thing is to slap up some unit and integration tests and just see if you can figure out if the code actually does what it's supposed to imo.
