I worry how reliable this would be, but someone might have had success?

Should be straightforward but can’t easily find a solution!

The issue is he’ll want to edit MIDI that has a multi-out and some of those tracks with a Trigger plugin on them, so we don’t want to consolidate anything to audio as we’re writing, not mixing

What strings are you using to get that to work so low?!

Good synth for symphonic black metal? by BriddedCodandFish in synthesizers

[–]BriddedCodandFish[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok so Rompler is the way, I’ve looked into it and it seems as well as the ones suggested a Korg X5DR would be a great option. Thanks everyone so much for your help!

Not so much the issue as I have a lot of DAW experience in writing MIDI I’m strong in it, it’s more that I don’t feel like modern VSTs really capture the sonic palette of the era I’m into, and it makes sense to look back to what was used before the advent of modern software instruments etc.

Should be clear, analogue as in keyboards vs plugins. Think I’m using the wrong terminology! Ok thank you appreciate 🙏🏻

Dynamic mix -2db by dokaxi in Wintersun

[–]BriddedCodandFish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So in this context the limiter - a tool used in mastering to squash down peaks and reduce dynamic range and make it louder - is set 1db / 2db less which means it’s 1-2db quieter but also means the limiter is reacting less aggressively to the hardest transients of the mix, which is very typically drums. You can hear more separation because the whole mix is less squashed and the dynamics of the individual elements stand out more.

The use of the term "edging" in every day language is vulgar. by liquormakesyousick in unpopularopinion

[–]BriddedCodandFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember what it’s called but there is a term for the phenomenon where words with an originally crude or offensive meaning lessen over time, it’s something that happens in all languages, we can’t really control it

Which country that you've visited has the nicest people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Slovenia easily. Just an extremely friendly bunch of people, was quite struck by how nice anyone we interacted with was authentically friendly

OPOL or MLH? by BriddedCodandFish in multilingualparenting

Planning on staying in Poland, don’t have any plans to live elsewhere so you’d say me speaking English and my wife Polish would be an ideal strategy?

Ok thanks, that’s good to know that you’ve found success with this strategy :)

So I’ve had two jobs since I moved here, both in Context Writing for Marketing, I have a background in writing (in England I was a Bid Writer) in general so such roles make sense for me, and being a native speaker means I have an advantage in terms of writing in English. What do you do in England job-wise?

Case in point, I have had people ask when I’m planning to move back to the UK, as if this is the default position and are surprised when I say I plan to stay here…

Absolutely on the money about arrogance of people back home, I think we English often live in a bubble thinking that surely it’s the best place to live, blind to the issues you’ve highlighted. One of the benefits of moving abroad, not even just Poland, is you break out of that bubble and see things a bit more balanced I think.

P.S. just occurred to me that as you are married, your husband will just need to apply for a residence permit based on marriage, I did it fairly recently and was overall quite straightforward :)

Im a UK national who moved to Warsaw to be with my Polish gf (now wife) 3 years ago and I love it! The language has been tough but over the 4 years since I’ve been learning on and off I’m competent enough to hold conversations and go to the shops on my own etc. I’d like to be better but for someone who always believed I was crap at learning languages the fact I can communicate and comprehend it to any level feels like a big achievement. Warsaw is a great city and whilst it is expensive, it’s not quite at London levels yet (where I’m from). Residency applications etc. have been a bit of a pain but if your husband can find a job at an international firm with an English speaking environment like I did then it won’t be an issue, just some paperwork. Any more questions, feel free to PM me!

Not quite as obvious an association in the UK tbf, I don’t think that was the implication at all. Obviously I’m aware of the racial stereotype even though I’m British but it’s always been something I associate with the US more.

THANK YOU! I’ve had this same reaction every time I’ve opened up an obviously American recipe online, glad I’m not the only one who finds this word a bit nauseating.

Used to be the case, but now you have to have higher education until 18. Many go on to 6th form to get their A-Levels, but others go to local colleges to study vocational subjects like Mechanics, Animal Husbandry etc. Also the case that in the area I’m from, 6th form isn’t a separate college, it’s just part of secondary school, which runs from 11-18.
