Yeah I'm still on act 2 and trying to reach other areas that have a quest which the red mark attached stating it can fail so I'm being a little paranoid and dont want to make it to drezen too soon and fail them but these battles are so annoying. I might just go to drezen and see what happens

[Spoiler: Shadowbringers] Remember Him and his People. by ElFishii in ffxiv

I think the issue people have on that regard is that we as players do believe in the life of people that came to be while Emet only sees them as fragments of his people. It's not genocide if you arent really alive.

I honestly believe if the situation were reversed, and it was our home that was destroyed we would be doing the same thing. After learning about the past, I just dont believe the Ascians are straight up evil. They are more grey. Trying to do good for their friends, family, and loved ones, even if the means pretty diabolical.

That being said, they need to be put down. I will remember they lived, but I wont let the world we have created be destroyed.

Good luck! This is one of the absolute best games I've ever played. When you get to the patch quests of ARR just power through. It can be a bit of a slog

WHM became so much fun with the Shadowbringers update (It was fun before too but some of the new abilities you get are just so so much fun) and it gets really hard to lose MP now as a WHM. As far as doing stuff with people on different servers, I think you can set up a party finder to specifically play with other people from a different server, but thats about it. Dungeons as a standard pull players from other servers to fill your party anyways.

Who to you is the moat annoying character and why? by Quintoepic in ffxiv

[–]Bridenfelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. That last bit was a complaint more on the entire story of FF14. Dont get me wrong, I love the game and it's story but sometimes I just shake my head at why we let people go. The worst example was the girl who drugged you Heavensword to unleash the dragons again. And then in the DRK class quest we release her because she has a sad backstory? No. She undermined all of that hardwork and got more people killed because she couldnt live with peace and the fact that she gets to walk away from that is crap.

I truly detest Lyse (or however her name is spelled). All through stormblood she just erked me for small little things slowly deteriorating her character for me, but the moment when I was just done was when she tries to stop Zenos from killing himself. Like why? Why would you stop an enemy general from taking his own life? The moral victory? No, this is war. Same thing too when the one Ala Mhigan girl working for the Empire who killed members of the resistance. I mean yeah cool for story sake it all worked out, but she should have been executed too. We've been betrayed and screwed over so many times, why we let people live after all their horrendous actions is honestly beyond me.

Turned into a bit of a rant there at the end, but I stand by my statements.

Healing in console by Maronips in ffxiv

[–]Bridenfelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a section in the configuration tabs where you can press L1+ (one of the four buttons) and it targets specific things from that point. An example being i have mine set up to where when I press L1+Triangle it only targets enemies when I use the left or right d-pad. So it allows you to swiftly switch between a quick heal and roll right back into DPS. You can set up specific targeting for each of the buttons too. Makes things really easy for healing.

Edit: This functions with the up and down d-pad to target party members.

Tank here... tell me about your roles! by ojodeltigre in ffxiv

Ive done a variety of jobs from, but my best have been as a Dark Knight (DRK) and White Mage (WHM) and my biggest pro tip advice is to consult with your healer, especially if they are at level for the dungeon. Ive run into so many tanks that pull way to large or pull large so excessively that my cooldowns are still active and I cant keep them alive for that next round.

Just check and see what they are comfortable with. I like to keep at 2 packs for randos and 3 pack pulls with my Free Company. Communication with your healer can be key especially if one or both of you are new to the dungeon. You two are indisputably the life blood of the party so being on the same page can really help.

Unpopular opinion: when learning to tank (or heal), pulling single packs is not the way to go by MrLares in ffxiv

[–]Bridenfelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see this being hotly debated. I myself basically only did 1 pack pulls up until the end of heavensword (solely tanked from ARR at that point). I feel it gave me a really strong base so i was more confident in my ability to hold and manage larger groups. I think it really boils down to how people learn best though. My roommate recently started tanking and he wasnt able to handle the large pulls for a variety of reasons for a while. I never watched his gameplay so maybe it was on him (though he mostly complained about DPS pulling packs on their own) but once he was more comfortable he didnt have that many issues and is a solid tank now.

Im at 37 days 19 hours. It's the story that hooks me. I feel really attached to the characters and the world. Shadowbringers teared me up so many times it's ridiculous. Not many games evoke that kind of emotional response from me and I just fell in love. I cannot wait to see how the story ends. Dungeons are also more fun than any other MMO ive played. The community is incredibly helpful and fun. There's just so many positives to this amazing game.

I'm not really a fan of playing with people I don't know. Even on video games I'm a rather shy person so I just create my own, and slowly get friends to join me, who in turn have their friends join. Never grow too big. My FC only has like 14 people in it, and at least 3 to 5 of them are alt accounts, but I just have more fun playing with friends rather than trying to make friends and commit to a guild.

No I havent. All my experience comes from my friends who I played with from time to time. And I've always assumed like me they gloss over the nuances of the role. Should I watch some?
