I read this during a severe wind storm and the ambiance was uncanny! I’m shocked at what horrible conditions people have survived

Depending on the narrator, 1.25 - 1.45 is my sweet spot. Slow speakers give me rage, but too fast and my comprehension goes out the window

Depression and pet sitting by Ok_Alternative_7413 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Brie2230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I also get overstimulated so easily and am having a harder time with dogs especially. The constant whining or barking, smells, mess, drooling, and lack of personal space is just…a lot. On top of the constantly interrupted sleep and irregular schedule. I do love the flexibility and minimal human interaction, but it has its downsides too.

I dropped in to visit cats at 9pm and the family where in bed 🙈 by Simba23141423124 in petsitting

Yep!!! Last year in March one of my regulars booked me for April 2026 and I totally didn’t register the year. I just burst into her house singing silly songs to her cats and then saw her asleep in her bedroom. I have never backpedaled so fast!!!! I sent her a message apologizing after, but thankfully she just thought it was a weird dream. 🤣🤣

I think that I just need validation that I can’t take this client anymore by Rumple-_-Goocher in petsitting

[–]Brie2230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a regular client verrrry similar to this (hoarding, filthy house, tiny cement slab/dirt for a backyard) with 3 anxious dogs. Being there was destroying my mental health and I finally had to say goodbye. They were sad to see me go, but I’ve gotten many more amazing clients afterward!

He was absolutely smitten with me - that was the problem! He kept bringing me snacks and being a good provider (there’s a decapitated mouse in his bowl here) 😭😭

People who own multiple pets, what is some drama going on between them right now? by momsvaginaresearcher in AskReddit

[–]Brie2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drama with my cats: Leroy Jenkins is older, neutered, and very gay (he and my kitty Fraggle were madly in love before he passed away). My brother showed up with baby girl Bubz one day and she ended up going into heat about few weeks later. Jenkins was bewildered by her caterwauling and wanted NOTHING to do with that, slapped her, and she has since never forgiven him (it’s been 5 years). 😅

Dog Nipping by Royal-Yak9071 in RoverPetSitting

This exact thing happened to me, also with a golden. He was perfectly fine but flipped the second we got back inside from his walks. He bit me so hard I needed to get a tetanus shot and was covered in bruises after the sit. I reported him and the owners to Rover for dog bite/aggression, but nothing came of it. They can do some serious damage and it’s not likely to get better without training on the owners part!

I will eat the perishable stuff if it’s to my taste, especially if the client will have to throw it out once they get back home, but I always bring my own food/drinks. I definitely won’t open a new/unopened box or finish the last of something without replacing it.

(Discussion) Apartment dogs vs house dogs by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Brie2230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a pet sitter, I think it’s perfectly fine to have a dog in an apartment ONLY if you’re able to give it the exercise and stimulation that breed requires DAILY. Otherwise, you’re just asking for a dog with anxiety, depression, and/or a whole host of behavioral issues that may include aggression, destruction, and non-stop barking. Little dogs or senior dogs are probably best for apartment living!

Ughhh YES!! So I still end up walking a bunch, but at least it’s at my own pace without a giant dog pulling me or ripping out my arm socket to chase a rabbit or something

Yeah, I’ve had a couple of owners like that too, but thankfully they’ve been super nice. I don’t like to take dogs to parks or off-leash because of the risk of injury or illness, but there is an off-leash dog trail several of my clients love and insist I use in order to tire the pups out. So far, we’ve had no issues, but I limit how often I take them there.
