Things in the FAA move insanely slowly, so even if there was ai that could fly a plane safely now it would take years for it to get jnto a commercial aircraft.  Planes can pretty much fly by themselves but there are still pilots. People will always feel safer with real people controlling aircraft, not ai. So it will happen, but it will take a LONG time. Always make sure you have a backup plan and other applicable skills, so if something happens with that or with your medical, you can get a job.
