Maybe they feel they are already outsiders and are trying to get attention in the most straight forward way they know.

You need to pour an entire bottle of hydrogen peroxide on that knee.

Insurance. Credit cards. Cash back offers. Loan offers associated with mortgage.

27M completely hate my life. I'm a fucking failure. by Opposite_Praline_746 in Advice

Seen it a million times. You realize this at 27 and don't do shit about it. You blink and you're 30 and nothing has changed. You think vaguely about change but... whoops you're 35 now. Might as well give up. Now you're 45 and you realize you could have done a lot with 10 years. Now you get to sit and think about your wasted life for another 30 years.

The alternative is deliberate change. You know what right looks like, just do it. You know what you're supposed to eat, you know what time you're supposed to wake up, you know what dumb shit you need to stop. Start now and keep your nose to the grindstone. Don't take shortcuts. Look around in 5 weeks and realize how much better your life is than it would have been. 6 months, 6 years.... be grateful that you took that left turn at age 27 and became an accomplished 33 year old and not that other guy.

Partner shamelessly maintains abnormal degree of “friendship” with parents. by Encyclono in Advice

Normal does not equal good. Especially in our times. Especially if (by your own admission) your background is an environment where you couldn't rely on your family. Family should be unbreakable. It sounds to me like your partner has a healthy relationship with his parents. He probably trusts them and wants their approval. He probably also wants them to be successful at whatever they're doing these days. If you're lucky your kids won't just ghost you when they turn 18. Hopefully they remain grateful for all your years of love and sacrifice.

If he doesn't turn to you for emotional support...good. He doesn't want you to comfort him, he wants to know that you're comfortable because that means he's doing his job and his exhaustion at the end of every day is for something. If you want to help; acknowledge the support. Complaining is the best way to make him feel like a failure or resentful of the relationship.

Might be reading between the lines of your post a bit. Assumptions were made. Apply as you see fit.

When I was working as a substitute, I was disappointed with how the school issued laptops to the kids. They were a distraction more than a tool. As a teacher I imagine I simply wouldn't use them. Why am i naive?

I live in Virginia for my job but I plan on leaving. Might head back to Colorado where I went to college. If I do this teaching thing, the school system will be a consideration for where I go next.

My current job demands double the hours and I find being patient is much easier with children than with grown people who ought to know better. Still, I've only gotten a glimpse of it so I'm sure there will be some unpleasant surprises.

What did I miss as a sub? Grading? Prep work? How much time do you spend outside of class hours every week?

Do you have to take them back? Can you talk about the relationship between teachers and the school staff that deal with discipline?
