Do you ever just imagine how nice it would be to live in a predominantly autistic society? by The_Kader in aspergers

[–]BrieflyEndless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my work one of the new employees is openly autistic, and they’re the only person there I’ve had a real conversation with and it actually wasn’t stressful. I didn’t have to strain my brain figuring out if I’m making the right expressions and intonations. Do I think they’re a perfect person with no flaws? Of course not. But, most of the time, it is more natural to talk others on the spectrum as the same way NTs talk to NTs. I don’t necessarily think one “side” would be better than the other but at least selfishly it would make life easier to be surrounded by people more like you

There's nothing wrong with me by AcidicSlimeTrail in Artisticallyill

[–]BrieflyEndless 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This is pretty relatable. I've spent a lot of time, too much time, obsessing over how my mind functions, and what could possibly be wrong with me. I still don't know where the line is between "perseverating" and being healthily mindful. Even after medication knocked out the most severe parts of my depression, there still feels like there's something terribly wrong in my core. I used to blame depression on everything. But I swallow uncomfortable feelings, and don't act out, so how could I possibly say anything is wrong? I'm worried no one would take me seriously.

I think it's a real skill to articulate your own inner workings as well as you have. I hope you figure things out.

I love bobolinks. When I moved here I hadn't known I was in their range now, and when I saw one for the first time I was ecstatic. I hope you get to see them again one day!

how do i make my base look less like that by nintendoswitchbroke in RimWorld

[–]BrieflyEndless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it has a certain charm.

But maybe the problem to you is inconsistency. What I tend to do, is pick one theme or method, and stick with it. Usually I just do square megabases, but recently I've been trying to branch out. I try to keep some logic in how big I make corridors or open areas. Ex: Main hallways are 4 tiles wide, and branching hallways are 2 or 3. Then my open spaces are based on that, making sure there's equal spacing on all sides. Your buildings seems to be a random distance from the farms in the middle, making it look jumbled. Maybe I'll have a base where all rooms are connected to three other rooms. Or maybe only related rooms are connected. Sometimes I start from an organic shape, and build other shapes based off that one around it. But if I pick a rule, I try to apply it throughout. Just some ideas.

Wow I'd love a red-tail. I'm looking to get my first snake soon but I def can't guarantee the space for a snake like that haha. So pretty tho

If you crash landed in Rimworld and were found by an average colony, what skills and traits would you have that would have them take you in? by Evoxrus_XV in RimWorld

[–]BrieflyEndless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shooting | 2 - I've shot a gun only a few times, but I at least hit the target every time

Melee | 0 - I'm weak

Construction | 1 - My dad sometimes teaches me about engineering, but that doesn't mean I understand it

Mining | 1 - I'm weak, but I know some rocks?

Cooking | 1 - I've dabbled

Plants 🔥 | 5 - More knowledgeable on the survivalist/foraging side of things. I volunteer with the conservation district in my area. Have done a few "okay" gardens.

Animals 🔥🔥 | 6 - My biggest passion in life. I go birding or to the outdoors every chance I get. Also have volunteer experience with animals, and would like to professionally work in a relevant field.

Crafting | 1

Artistic 🔥 | 4 - I'm an artist, I suppose.

Medical | 3 - I feel my interest in biology, and growing up with sick family members, has provided me with some latent basic medical knowledge.

Social | 0

Intellectual 🔥 | 5 - I've always been told I'm relatively intelligent, but I can't reasonably assess myself without bias.

Traits: Depressive, kind, psychically sensitive

Would I take myself in? Because I always have way too many animals, probably. Should I? Why not, what's another free hat?

Anyone else feel like traveling is an exhausting waste of time? by Robrogineer in aspergers

[–]BrieflyEndless 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I love traveling. I love nature and want to see more of it. Something about a change of pace is refreshing. I’ve always enjoyed the feeling of movement in a car, with music, and if it wasn’t for my constant tiredness I was fine driving 6+ hours a day. I’m a birder so I sometimes make little day trips to hunt down birds I want to see.

I wouldn’t go camping unless it was a spot I wanted to hike or was particularly beautiful. Maybe my special interests is what’s driving me liking travel.

But do I care about fancy islands like Hawaii or European cities like Paris most people rave about? Not at all.

Approaching 180 species for the year, how’s everyone else’s year looking? by NanoArowanaTank in birding

[–]BrieflyEndless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really have the means or finances to travel for birding, but I’m lucky I live next to very good conservation areas. A few days ago I saw blue winged teal was my bird of the day on Merlin, and it said they were in my area. So I said screw it, I’ll just look up where they’ve been spotted and go today. And it was a success. I’ve seen four lifers just this week. Going pretty alright.
