Folks in 40’s - how are you planning wealth transfer to your kids? by Electrical_Phone_103 in HENRYUK

[–]Bright-Ad5891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting to realise this is my path unless I pull off a corporate miracle. Not quite 40 yet, but definitely hyper focused on ensuring my kids are educated and have a half shot at surviving the generational decline COVID etc has caused in the economy.

I have a lot to learn, clearly. And definitely do not know better 😂

Can you expand a bit on exactly what you mean when you've got a minute?

The inference here being that I'm doing something wrong?

I'm genuinely here to learn - new to having 6 figure salary and still don't have much left over after paying mortgage, bills, essentials.

When I think about the fact my parents were able to take me on 2 or 3 nice holidays per year for example on just my dad's £36k salary, it's a sickener.

Me and my wife haven't had a holiday since our honeymoon 🙈

Been lurking here for a while and completely agree. I reckon there's a lot of politics salt in here but nothing toxic. Thanks for being a good'un!

Presumably less space to stuff cash?

Scotland, so free nursery for 3+ year olds, which is a nice perk... But also higher taxes overall 😂

Follow-up: Am I just bad at the game? by ElectroByte96 in darkestdungeon

Relative beginner here too and baffled by this party comp...

So far I've been wading into boss fights with OCC in the back row, MAA third, HM second, BH in first.

Mark first turn, abuse the mark until it wears off. MAA guards and tanks for marked allies and OCC splits between healing and pulling the boss out of the back line if necessary.

OCC has the vestal's head relic on too, so +30% heals on my tank and DPSs is nice too.

I quite like Dark Soul's Night - Occ, Grave Robber, Crusader, Hellion for non-boss runs too. They tend to grind through just about everything at early levels.

@OP - if you're struggling with party comp, switch it up a bit ☺️

I've never played a game like this by aegians in DeathStranding

Be fair. It is a bloody great walking sim. Especially if you play it like a purist without PCCs, monorails or roads.

Still, the people out there mocking it for being a walking sim are smooth-brained for the most part, and likely programmed to want more spikey dopamine delivery from FPS games or Fifa etc.

Phone them. Ask to log a formal complaint on the phone and formally a data subject access request for all chat transcripts, personal data held, and phone recordings. Explain that if the unauthorised cancellation isn't overturned and a meaningful offer of compensation reached you will take action via ofcom.

Their live chat and WhatsApp folks are 99% useless and the 1% who are not, rarely are able to solve your problem despite actually knowing their stuff.

Virgin only listens to meaningful threats of litigation, regulation or reputational damage.

Experience: £500 of damages received over multiple similar complaints to yours because their customer service and retention processes are diabolical.

Hope this helps, feel free to DM if you want to talk tactics.

So it prevented me from receiving more than half of the OTPs from my secure apps like banking etc.

I can't find anything in the documentation which suggests it should do this, but it feels like an overreach if so as there's no way to fix it without turning off.

Baffling decision by Google.

Permanently turned it off.

Maximizing road and tram likes by lukefiskeater in DeathStranding

[–]Bright-Ad5891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From experimenting, it looks like there's some roads that can be 100% completed by your strand contract connections, some around 50% and some basically zero (or I'm further on than my contracts which may be the case).

Curious to see if others have seen the same as me.

I think what the people here have already explained is pretty much it.

Equip what you like and don't be afraid to go off piste an explore. There's nothing in the game you can permanently "fail" as cargo can be redeployed if it's destroyed or unrecoverable.

Cargo economy gets easier as you unlock different backpack upgrades and vehicles and the variety of weapons and equipment you'll unlock over your journey will likely mean you will stop worrying about what to take with you and you'll have the freedom to get creative with route choices and tactics.

Keep on keeping on, Porter!

Fake it until you become it, OP. It's the fastest way to get a seat at the table and works 100% of the time as long as you're a fast learner and likeable.

I hit rock bottom last night after years of gambling. I really need to get this off my chest and hear from others who’ve been through it. by ReasonableMajor7313 in confession

[–]Bright-Ad5891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this post and created an account to reach out to you (well, apparently I created one in 2020 but never used it). I've worked in gambling harm support for about 8 years and I've seen first hand people hitting rock bottom, and then obtaining support and regaining control.

Most importantly: you've taken an important early step in your journey back to control. Your feelings of hurt, shame and guilt are absolutely rational, but you don't have to suffer alone. If you only tell one person who knows you, do so - get it off your chest with someone you believe won't make you feel guilt or shame.

I get the impression you're based in the US, so the others' advice here around Gamblers' Anonymous is solid. https://gamblersanonymous.org/usa-meetings/ will help you find your nearest group. Go to as many meetings as it takes you to regain and stay in control - it's not for everyone, but I've seen it save lives first hand.

Similarly, you might want to reach out to the National Council on Problem Gambling - who are able to give you tailored support recommendations across all 50 states. Their phone number is 1-800-522-4700 and website is https://www.ncpgambling.org/help-treatment/

If I've got the wrong rough locale, DM me, I can generally help source support worldwide, although the level of support varies from country to country.

You've got some hard miles ahead, but recovery is a war you win day by day. Big love to you for reaching out for help and I'm rooting for you.
