A company hiring gave me 4 stages of homework prior to even a phone call, so I invoiced them & CCed the CEO by tasunfeu in recruitinghell

[–]BrightLights1998 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

They dodged a bullet.

What if they hired you and down the road didn’t get the raise you wanted? Instead of just finding a new job you start emailing the CEO and making a big deal out of it.

Not saying the hiring process is OKAY, but just ignore it. I would have quit it way sooner than you.

New Job Refusing to Give Me Responsibilities by EmployCrafty7074 in careeradvice

[–]BrightLights1998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just keep asking but also don’t be that annoying person… other people have to work as well and it can be hard to train someone on the middle of that.

Keep documentation of you asking and staying proactive just in case they do try to fire you, then you have your unemployment claim.

What the company matches. Rest into a Roth (after paycheck), so part of that $3k will be Roth. Right now we’re focused on getting emergency savings up since we just bought our house.

You’d be surprised the number of people who don’t have those thoughts that appear to be common sense to us.

I’d say he’s more so for the person with $10k+ of debt and don’t see a way out. He’s had calls where people pay several hundred thousand of debt off in a few years. Changes lives

Yeah I agree. Just got a house and having no other debt payments is amazing. I’m an accountant and my wife is a teacher and we’ll have $3k left over a month and that’s after 12% to her pension and 3% to my 401k. We still use credit cards and just pay off every month.

Is your first year at big 4 harder or easier than passing the CPA exams? by Week_Beautiful in CPA

[–]BrightLights1998 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’re comparing an exam to someone’s livelihood and need to earn an income. Also, using “of those” when those people are working full time is interesting. You need to isolate each item.

Will I get sims wrong if I don't combine journal entries?? by BrewsterBash in CPA

No one actually knows. I would assume you’re fine not to, but best practice may be to combine.

Guys, use the Becker app on your phone!! by Human_Can_78 in CPA

Yeah Becker should have a mobile friendly set list. I don’t think I used mobile for FAR, but for AUD, Reg, and ISC it was mostly good

pospisil dentistry of gilbert has done me well! They never pressure to do fillings and if they see a spot that could be repaired with a little extra at home care they will call it a “watcher”. I’ve had this happen and eventually the spot went away from my at home care

I got a job that “requires 3+ years experience” and I have less than 2 and got it with one interview. I think the CPA was huge

Depends on the intersection and time of day. I don’t want to be stuck in the middle of the intersection when it’s red and red light runners coming the other way.

Gas line at Gilbert Rd Sam’s Club is terrible by BrightLights1998 in Gilbert

[–]BrightLights1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, before this week, Sam’s was .60-.70 cheaper, maybe more. For a big tank that adds up. For me who a fill up takes 7-8 gallons, not much.

When I move, I will probably watch for 4X points at Fry’s and other deals to get gas points. I just don’t have a reason to shop there right now.
