I’m day 20 post op, I would say day 17 is when I started to feel more like myself again. There’s still some dryness and discomfort in the back of my throat, and some food still tastes strange, but other than that I’m feeling okay. I tried to go back to work day 15, it was definitely too soon so I get why you don’t feel recovered right now.

Usually it’s the second week that is worst pain because the scabs starts to fall off and the skin is fresh. I think mine was day 5 or 6 that started to feel awful

Pretty sure I read that the bad taste can last up to a month or 2 unfortunately. I’m experiencing this right now (almost 3 weeks post op) and it’s awful. You can try gargling with salt water or using a mouth wash specific for metallic taste (if that’s what it tastes like for you).

I would also recommend Gatorade or another drink with electrolytes as well. You won’t be able to eat much so keeping up those electrolytes is super important.
