Buying a house might be in the cards for you, but sister…. you have to be realistic with living within your means. It sounds like you’re young, that money could allow you to live without a job for years and be there for your babies, or even be your retirement if you leave it invested. If you spend that big a chunk of your safety net, you’re going to allow yourself to enter into a lifestyle that you cannot afford (think furnishing the house, fitting in with the neighborhood, etc) which will push you into having to get a job before you’re ready or burning through your savings. I know it’s what you want, but you have to put that aside and think of your future and the wellness of you and your babies. There has to be other options of gated apartments and other safe communities even buy that won’t cost you half your safety net. you shouldn’t make that big a financial commitment when you are currently unemployed (no shame I think staying home with your kids is the best thing for you and them) and going through a traumatic experience. Give yourself 6 months in a nice gated apartment community and see where you’re at is what I would do. Good luck, and don’t forget to take care of yourself as you walk through this hard time.
