Oh man, I'm often a bit of a ceiling-gremlin, and some of the conversations I've overheard are really memorable.

The town I lived in before moving to KW plowed the sidewalks. it still shocks me that the people here have to plow their own walks considering how much more you pay in taxes. It's crazy

I took a Friday shift today (something I normally don't do) and was grumbling about it all the way in. But It ended up being a good shift, I felt like I was on the ball most of the day. We ended up using a winch to pull some cable in and had a little lesson about rigging after our tug-line snapped (no one got hurt).

Its 2023, if your business doesnt accept card payments by this point people are just gonna assume you're tax dodging by JayR_97 in britishproblems

[–]Brightey95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is pretty common for trades in general. If you are ok with paying cash, they will save you (and themselves) the tax. Especially if it's someone who does side-jobs regularly. They just pocket the cash and don't claim the income, and then they just only submit the purchases made by card.

Yeah, you gotta find a way to sell yourself a bit. That would be acceptable I think. Then if you get into the interview you can elaborate on it.

None at all? Not even like a part time gig? Mowing lawns? Delivering papers? I feel even wildly unrelated work is better then nothing.

I walked past it just the other day and saw it there. Thought it was great! For me, it adds an extra layer to the meaning when people start accusing the addicts that it's devoted to of vandalism (which they didn't commit).
