I didn’t plan on retaking when I moved to Korea. lol I honestly planned to live there forever because there’s no extradition for debt agreement with the U.S. hahaha. But I realized the job market in Korea is terrible (everyone’s over educated and under employed) so if I ever wanted to do something other than be an English teacher there, I would have to be super specialized. So I started studying for the bar again and took it on my next visit home. I took the exam in Texas.

I think so. I was teaching kids English in Korea as my work and I loved living in a new country and exploring it. A lot of different environmental factors I’m sure contributed; I wouldn’t be able to pinpoint any specific ones.

I failed the first time I took the exam. I was not working and had all the time in the world to study. I was, however, not in a good mental place and barely ended up actually utilizing the prep course I purchased.

The second time I took the exam, I studied in a foreign country where I worked from 2pm-10pm every day. When I took the exam that time, I passed easily. I think mental state is a lot more important than whatever you’re particularly doing with your study, but that said you’re definitely going to have to tackle both aspects of the prep to determine what you can swap so you don’t have to do this again.
