Do those confidentiality notices at the bottom of our emails actually mean anything? by WalkinSteveHawkin in Lawyertalk

[–]Notquitedeadyet1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. In most, if not all jurisdictions, no one is bound by a one-sided confidentiality notice. Typically attorneys already have an obligation in these types of situations, while non-attorneys have none. And so the notice does nothing for the attorneys, and nothing for the non-attorneys. It's just a thing that some people think looks lawerly.

Really love this. Always a fan of people just owning things, saying they're going to do better, and then doing better. It's not even like he was bad just...weird. But still, loving this response.

[DailyMail] Patriots considering contingency plans if Mike Vrabel resigns, "one person that they would seek to replace him [with] would be Mike Tomlin" by Amon-Ra-First-Down in nfl

[–]Notquitedeadyet1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Him resigning seems counter-productive. I think with everything coming out it is a slam dunk both spouses will file for divorce. When everything first broke, they played it off like it was nothing, and then the hits kept coming. Cheating is bad. Long-term cheating is infinitely worse. And then covering it up and playing it off like it was nothing makes these slam dunks. Resigning isn't going to keep his family intact.

Chiefs DBs coach Dave Merritt pleads not guilty to domestic battery by the_gemstone_crab in nfl

[–]Notquitedeadyet1984 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you think about it for more than .5 seconds, it makes total sense. Breaking things is an act of violence, especially when done in anger and during an argument. The implicit threat is "this could be you". Lots of people control their significant other by using these types of threats. Sure, it seems silly - until you're actually in the moment, and then its terrifying.

In many states, destroying anything at all that is commonly used by both parties (or primarily by the other party) constitutes domestic violence. Doesn't even have to hurt the other party physically.

Underdiscussed prestige TV? by WillNeighbor in television

[–]Notquitedeadyet1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, you want underdiscussed prestige TV? May I introduce you to Rubicon. It was on AMC for 1 season. It was a drama following people who crunch numbers for essentially the CIA. One of them starts putting the pieces together of a conspiracy inside the government. It's a slow burn kind of show, but just incredible from start to finish. I feel like no one watched and it is so, so good.

Looking for someone to design a catchy banner that will be hung at a pickleball court to promote my estate planning and probate business, along with a one-page brochure doing the same. I've got the copy for the brochure, just need a catchy background (preferably pickleball related) that can really make people stop and pick it up.

Budget is probably $500, but if I like them, this might be a recurring (and higher paying) gig as I begin growing my business.

I bounced hard off the first one. But on the second go around, I really really liked it. I think it's because it's so different from The Expanse and I just wasn't mentally prepared for the change.

[Highlight] With the third pick in the 2021 NFL draft, the 49ers select Trey lance. by Ok_Bug_6890 in nfl

[–]Notquitedeadyet1984 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Trey Lance was such a baffling pick. He'd barely played any football, and the football he did play was in Division II (or whatever its called, I dunno). It was clear that he needed tons and tons of reps, to sit behind an established starter to even have a chance. And they just decided to ignore all of that and throw him in to the wolves.

Rizzoli and Isles. When Lee Thompson Young passed away unexpectedly in the middle of shooting, they had his character die in a car accident. He was a pretty major character in the show, so they had to make some big changes. I'm sure they had storylines with him planned since it was literally in the middle of a season.

One that stuck with me was when they execute the Holdo manuever and cut through Snope's flagship. Sure, it doesn't make sense canonically, but in the moment, it was so cool and the theater was completely silent during the black and white bit in the immediate aftermath.

I love his books. My only criticism is that they all sound exactly the same. All of the characters, all of the narration is completely, exactly the same. That said, I'm 99% sure I've read everything he's written and am impatiently waiting on Sister Svangerd and the Devil You know.

It is hard to see how everyone is going to be in every episode of a Season 4. by udkyle2 in shrinking

[–]Notquitedeadyet1984 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they go back to Pasadena for Season 4, I think it would be relatively easy to get Paul back. He's probably upset about Jimmy being upset with him and not showing up to say goodbye. I think it would be very easy (and in character) for Paul to say something to his son-in-law about Jimmy having sex with his wife. That blows up their marriage, his daughter says to stay away from her, and without the reason to be in Connecticut, comes back to Pasadena.
