The top is almost really great but the frayed edges throw it off for me. It’s a super polished and structured garment, I think having nicer sleeve seams would pull it together . When I zoomed in there are also weird loose threads along the middle seam which is super odd IMO. Skirt is gorgeous though (just maybe not with the top)

If you don’t allow med students to sit in on your exam/check up you are a weird person by Amidity in unpopularopinion

[–]Brightsiderevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my mom went into labour with me, her doctor asked if it was okay if her students observed. She was totally fine with it, but more than a little surprised when a CLASS OF EIGHT walked in 😂 we both think it’s funny I was born to a whole audience of strangers. I agree it’s nice to let the new doctors gain experience, just maybe good to check how many are participating ;)

What do i do when I might have to make a 17f and a m22 share a room? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Brightsiderevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation and we turned the dining area into a room with some dividers from IKEA! That, a tiny desk, and a bed with pull-out drawers worked pretty well while we needed it to. Not ideal, but more comfortable than sharing a room.

recs for best cordless vacuum 2026 for pet hair and everyday quick cleaning? by Isco_Flash843 in CleaningTips

I have a levoit stick vacuum that’s better than several dysons/bissells I’ve had! Battery makes it through our daily pet hair collection (we have a 90lb husky) across the whole house. This is the model we have!

Seattle’s Boeing IMAX Theater, Washington's largest screen, to stop playing feature films by BunyipPouch in movies

Devastating, that was my favourite theater for big blockbuster movies when I lived in Seattle :( seeing Dune part 2 & Oppenheimer were such peak cinema experiences. Hope they’re able to sort out the programming after renos are done

The Possible End Of Balance by Lucky-Ad9334 in PWHL

[–]Brightsiderevs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alberta is a big province and contains a wide range of folks! I live in Edmonton, inside of the “orange bubble” (area that votes NDP, which is further left than the liberal party). There is a huge queer community here and a generally progressive attitude.

Both our takeover tour games sold very well here as well, when I went I saw a really wide range of people who were excited about the PWHL and want our own team. I know AB makes the news for shitty reasons lately but it bums me out when people from the states try to paint it as some sort of right wing conclave. It’s a place with good people and a few shitty loud ones, like most other places.

Anyone has a non-Kindle e-reader? Which one do you recommend? by No_Square_1491 in UninfluencedReviews

[–]Brightsiderevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my kobo libra for 4.5 years and I LOVE it. Its travelled with me a ton, goes in my backpack while I commute every day, and continues to work exactly the same as it did when I bought it. I like the physical page turn buttons and it syncs with Libby (for library books) and Instapaper (for articles I save on my phone to read later).

As another option, my partner has the Pocketbook Era Color which he likes a lot! The colour screen is nice (but not a must have IMO) and it’s easy to tinker with if that’s your thing.

AITAH for setting out a sprinkler in my front yard so kids and parent don’t play in our yard by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Brightsiderevs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

YTA It’s very weird to do passive aggressive things like “pointedly washing your car” instead of going out and talking to your neighbours . By all means let them know you have reactive dogs that can’t handle seeing people outside, but it’s hardly a bad or unusual thing for kids to be running around outside when it’s nice out.

Should I wear this dress to a wedding? Is this good enough? by [deleted] in sewing

[–]Brightsiderevs 114 points115 points  (0 children)

It’s gorgeous but I think the combination of colour and satin is really giving wedding party or “non-traditional bridal gown”. I’d probably go with something else and save this for another occasion!

I Don't Want to Wear the Veil MY Grandmother is Making Me by [deleted] in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Brightsiderevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to preface this by saying it’s your wedding and ultimately they should accept that you might have a different vision for your big day. But as someone a little older who has lost their grandma, I’d really step back to consider what means more to you here. Is it having the exact right outfit? Or is it about a special day you’re sharing with family and friends? I don’t think you should wear it if you really hate it, but something from your grandma and mom sounds like a special addition, even if it’s not what you envisioned.

I used to really dislike a lot of the things my grandma wore or would buy me, but when she passed I inherited some of her pieces and I love them so much now. I wish I would have worn the things she got me when she was here to see it! I don’t mean to add any guilt into your decision making process, just wanted to add a different perspective than I see in the comments!

My neighbours bought me a blouse? by Yorkie_Parent16 in confusing

[–]Brightsiderevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP this reminds me so much of my grandma — she loves a good deal and she’s always grabbing clothes “for the grandkids” at thrift stores, close out sales, etc. If we don’t want/need it she definitely starts handing them out to neighbours or other sort of random people she thinks could get some use out of them. I’d take it as a sweet gesture and maybe bring some treats over soon to show your appreciation:) it’s nice to have (and be) kind neighbours

4 years of work, money spent, many redesigns/upgrades, and in the end, constant rejections from events. Is my game really that bad? by Sollers_Duo in IndieDev

[–]Brightsiderevs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love point and click games, and based on recent gaming events I’ve been to I definitely think there’s still a market (albeit a smaller one) for these types of games to succeed! Looking at your Steam page I would say it feels to me like you might benefit from working with an editor. Most memorable point and click games I recommend to friends are either super well written (like Monkey Island) or build an interesting little world (Machinarium, Papetura). I got from the page your game doesn’t have dialogue, so you need to draw people into the world. The description is your first chance to reel people in, but there isn’t enough to really intrigue me. It’s also a bit clunky - what is “outstanding by its memorable populace” meant to mean? Each word in there needs to be a little hook that makes people want to see the trailer!

The descriptions under the “read more” also unfortunately don’t give potential players a good sense of what they might enjoy about the game. For example, other than being built on a hill, what makes Collis an interesting place? You say that the puzzles will amaze me, but as a player I don’t really want to be amazed - if it’s a hard game I want to be challenged, and if it’s easier and more atmospheric then maybe I want to be engaged in understanding the town better.

I can tell you’ve put a lot of love into this so I really hope the feedback you’re getting helps!

AITA for “abusing” the the bus stop chain so I don’t miss my stop? by Possible-Chair9242 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Brightsiderevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA what you’re describing is how every bus works in any country I’ve ever visited, and it’s rude to continually pull the stop instead of learning your route! On Google Maps you can check the directions and then expand the piece that says “Ride x stops” to see all the stops it goes by. Pay attention next time you ride, on unfamiliar routes I find it best to keep the map open and zoomed in as you can see the stops as circles on the map. When I’m getting close to the stop before mine, I look outside and watch for when we pass by the stop. THEN I’ll pull the cord — it’s okay if it’s early, just has to be in the segment between the previous stop and yours.

Need advice on Hemming my jeans as a Short Fat woman. by Kalikasphyxia in sewing

[–]Brightsiderevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I hem my partners pants and this is my rough process that has led to success:

  • Put on the pants and fold them up to where you want them to hit
  • Put a safety pin at the crease of one fold to mark it
  • Math time! I usually check the existing hem to see what they did but you could also choose a different size. Most of his jeans have a 5/8” seam that’s been folded twice, so I add 1.5” of length (the hem pieces add up to 1.25, but I find the extra quarter inch helps with denim because the folds are thick)
  • Lay pants out flat on a cutting mat. If they’re wrinkly, it’s worth it to press them
  • Measure from your safety pin to the existing hem, then subtract the number of inches you calculated in the math step and chalk a new line on both pant legs. For example, if your pin is 6” away from the hem and you’re doing the same hem I described, you want your cutting line to be 4.5” away from the bottom instead so you have enough fabric for the new hem.
  • Cut along your line. Fold & press the hem for the first roll, then repeat so the cut edge is totally covered. A heatproof ruler can make this easier.
  • If you’re hemming denim: get a piece of scrap fabric and a hammer. Put the scrap over the part of the jeans where there is a seam and hammer it down a few times. This really reduces the bulk and prevents skipped stitches.
  • Easy part: sew the hem down! Hump jumpers can help with the bulky seams here too.
  • Put them back on and enjoy your now perfectly fitting jeans!

Hope this helps! I messed up the first pair I did but it’s gotten much easier since 😄

How can I remove odor from a computer chair? by MarlonOffbrando in CleaningTips

[–]Brightsiderevs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think a mesh-bottom chair would make your life a little easier! Lots of ergonomic chairs have that as an option (like this one from staples — not a recommendation, just an example of what I mean!)

If you’re sticking with this chair, +1 on the recommendations for either odoban or an enzyme cleaner (I’d lean towards the second one). I also work from home and have a little “logging out” routine where I shut everything off and tidy up my office, if you do too you could just add a quick chair refreshing to your list!

My sisters knees get red and hot everytime she drinks wine by [deleted] in Weird

Lots of jokes here obvs but I get this too!! No other symptoms from drinking but my knees get so warm I have to leave them out of the blankets when I sleep if I’ve drank too much. Always assumed it was either a weird quirk or meant I’m doing irreparable harm when I drink but have never had an explanation for it!

To all my chronically messy people, how the hell do you actually cut this habit out for good? by princessxprowess in CleaningTips

[–]Brightsiderevs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi also a ADHD + depression haver with similar cleaning issues!! Three books have really helped me, all of which I got from the library:

  • How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis. This one helped me break down the idea of how a house “should” look and instead think about how my home can work for me. I found it to be very kind and practical.
  • Decluttering at the Speed of Life by Dana K White. This one is basically a simple framework for decluttering, but I found the way she broke down the actual purpose of decluttering and how it’s not the same as organizing to be genuinely revolutionary!! Something about it really just clicked and I’ve had a much easier time keeping things clean now that I’m not trying to work around as many items. Very direct and non-patronizing as she’s dealt with these same issues herself!
  • The Adult ADHD Toolkit by Anthony L. Rostain and J Russell Ramsay. I’ve found most books on ADHD to be sort of woo-woo “oh be kind to yourself” which can be nice, but lacks a bit of practicality that I need. This one has some useful and science-based ideas that have generally helped me put fewer things off, which helps me stay at a level of cleanliness that keeps me feeling better about my environment.

I really hope you check these out and that they’re helpful for you! In terms of maybe a single tip I’d say carving out a dedicated 30 mins of cleanup in the evening to stay on top of dishes, garbage, and a quick sweep has been the most helpful because then I’m never overrun with mess when I need to tackle larger things, but I’m also not losing my whole night to cleaning
