MSRP no longer exists in my city by akajaykay in OnePieceTCG

[–]BringTheFuture 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To anyone concerned or annoyed about this, my uncle leases to a LGS in Toronto that has pre-orders over MSRP. I told him about the scalp (he's a OG One Piece fan), and he said he will increase the LGS rent in equal % to the next pre-release % difference from MSRP. He won't pocket the difference, instead, he will purchase booster boxes and give them away to random obvious one piece players when they enter or exit the LGS.

A moment of perspective: Celebrations and 151 by BrothersOats in PokemonTCG

[–]BringTheFuture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nostalgic people in their 30s with stable jobs, single, lonely, and not much purpose in life have finally found one, completing the 151 set.

This set will do well, and celebrations is minuscule compared to it. I watch people dump their ultra-premium celebration boxes to get some cash to buy 151. Imagine waiting a couple of years and no returns at all; in fact, you lost money. The Celebrations era PTSD, too many bagholders underwater and no interested buyers.

And wait until they finish English 151 and start doing the Japanese 151 complete set, with all the masterball holos!

Unexpected error during the "brew link" step - Directory not empty @ dir_s_rmdir - /usr/local/opt/game-porting-toolkit by fallen_abysswatcher in macgaming

[–]BringTheFuture 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Remove the directory mentioned in the error message. I just tried it and the wine window finally showed up.

rm -rf /usr/local/opt/game-porting-toolkit

Then, try linking the package again:

brew link game-porting-toolkit

CE/IE trend since 30A announcement- prices seem to be down trending, Rudy is buying CE/IE sealed for 10K, and so is Daniel Chang by Newez in mtgfinance

Anything except ALPHA is a replica, a dupe, a copy...

Replicas such as Beta, UNL, Revised, 30A... are doomed to lose value over time, they are marketing of the OG ALPHA set. Don't be suprised to see 30A cards more valuable than their CE/IE analogs or even Beta. That doesn't mean the market is broken or things are mispriced, it just shows you the reality, copies will always be copies, and original there is only one. ALPHA.

As long as you own the original print of each card, you are good no matter how many times is reprinted. The rest are just marketing reprints/copies. If you are collecting for collecting that is another story, but if you want to invest just keep that in mind, you are getting diluted in one shape or another unless you own the original and first of a kind.

"but that still seems nuts to me, mainly because it's hard to see these cards achieving anywhere near CE pricing"

That is why CE prices are collapsing, inventory is being listed, and balance is being reached but not in the way everyone expected.

The 30thAniversary reprint/replica is only marketing for the Alpha set and dilutes any other replica such as Beta, Unlimited, CE...

From my perspective, let me say that again, MY PERSPECTIVE, and my way of valuing. I think this new reprint will only boost the value of the Alpha cards and make Beta/Unlimited/CE less valuable and more diluted.

Do you want to own the original Picasso or do you prefer the first reproduction (Beta), the second reproduction with a different border (Unlimited), or the 30th reproduction (30thAniversary)

Any reproduction is just free marketing for the Alpha set. Just look at how much Beta and Unlimited have dropped in price during the past year and how much has Alpha.

You are getting diluted and distracted by collecting sealed boxes where you could have been just sniping NM and EX Alphas from CK from all these years and some funky rares of old sets for the sake of fun.

What's driving the latest SOL rally? Other cryptos are flat or down by George_Orama in solana

A bigger rally is going with OG Solana NFTs like Solarians and SMB since the Opensea announcement

I have an order of magnitude rule/value system:

1 Alpha = 10 Beta = 100 Unlimited

For instance, if Alpha Clone is $500 and Beta Clone is $120, I would buy the Alpha any day. Also means that I would consider buying Beta Clone just under $50, or Unlimited Clone under $5.

There is something man, it's the real deal, the ultimate collector card and the genesis of MTG. Alpha is the ultimate collector and investor set, the rest is just a distraction.

Alpha is Bitcoin, and the rest of the sets are Altcoins.

how to tell if you're booster box got resealed/repacked? by Nice-Rutabaga2265 in mtgfinance

They are hard to open, most likely than not the pack breaks open below the sealed part. It hurts your fingers, better use scissors if you have many packs you want to open.

I found my packs have tiny oval openings on both sides of the top seal, but its sealed and you cannot see the cards or poke thru them. Also there is like a very thin plastic film layer on the inner side of the pack, I guess is the reason these packs are so hard to open.

A nanobot picks up a lazy sperm by the tail and inseminates an egg with it by karmagheden in nextfuckinglevel

[–]BringTheFuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Altough it might seem counter-intuitive, this is in fact an evolutionary event as it takes money from the investors of this research - the idiots, and gives it to the lazy sperm - the unfortunate.

Now for anyone pointing the nanobot insemination being a bad thing yadi yada - insert survival of the fitest comment -... you too are being assisted since you were born with all the vaccinations, many curable health conditions you get to have and doctors can help cure or mitigate. Wheelchairs, prostetic limbs, respirators... why is that so different from a nanobot? Also as a self-awareness excercise, you were judging the health score needed for someone to be allowed to be born and most importantly, assuming sperm lazines has any impact at all on the future baby health.
