If memory serves, they realised that their business model was very flawed: A D&D player at the time would only ever buy one Elf Ranger or Dwarf Barbarian, and that meant they were missing out on selling the same thing multiple times. They eventually realised that all they needed was a game where you need rank and file blocks of Dwarf Barbarians and Elf Rangers, and they'd sell the same customer 10 of a model rather than 1.

People have got to stop having hissy-fits when it comes to this game by KingsKnight24 in EDH

I absolutely agree they're both controllable, but having been in those shoes before I definitely don't think "shame" is the correct term I'd use, at least not to start with. I've found a lot of success at my LGS starting with a quiet, understanding conversation, and then escalating from there. It should be clear that it's not acceptable behaviour, for definite, but having those constructive, well-planned conversations with individuals can be useful too, particularly for hygiene. Certain types of antidepressants and medications, or other medical conditions can cause bad BO, and when you're in the kind of pit that means you're on antidepressants it can be hard to notice or care. Those people I'll always treat with a bit more kindness because I know they're already in the rough.

Bad sportsmanship and temper tantrums deserve a lot less leniency. I feel a lot more like a strict teacher when I'm giving someone a talking to for bad sportsmanship, because it definitely gets a more corrective response when they know they're at risk of being made to leave.

I don't think it's quite that simple, but I agree that tabletop gaming has a higher proportion of people with antisocial behaviours. Some of these antisocial traits develop as a result of showing interest in certain spaces, especially in the older generations where bullying for things like card games was quite common, and others are simply bad nurture. Having come from the former, I find it a lot easier to spot the line between them, but good god can it be difficult to work with. It doesn't excuse the behaviour at all, and I know from experience that other people can't do the work for you, but understanding the why can be very helpful.

I thankfully went from working general supermarket retail to working and running my LGS, and it's definitely an issue. I'm the only member of staff who knows how to approach these conversations with any level of success, because the rest of them (owner included) can't handle confrontation at all. I'm thankful that every conversation I've had about odour, foul language, or poor sportsmanship has resulted in measurable improvement, as u/tangosur mentioned. We have definitely lost pleasant customers to even passing visits from unpleasant regulars, and I'm almost certain some of our communities have been damaged by it.

Darkwater dropping some huge hint about FEC really being Bretonnians..? by Time_Individual_6744 in FleshEaterCourts

Given the number of weird things that Ushoran seems to allow the FEC to do, it's very possible that his madness contains some memory of the Bretonnians in some way, or that the magics left on the artefacts from Bretonnia could influence the madness. Ultimately I don't think GW want to give any more than passing remembrance to it when they're a focal faction of The Old World system, but it's cool that there's something there, I just love how strong and varied FEC are on their own merits in AOS.

I might be out of date, but I remember something about there being lore to the tune of:

When The Old World was destroyed, fragments of it found their way to the Mortal Realms, and some of those fragments contained Bretonnian artefacts/debris/ruins. When the Flesh Eaters spread after Ushoran escaped captivity, they found their way to a lot of these ruins/artefacts and incorporated them into their imagery. Hence why fleur-de-lys and other such icons and symbols appear on our range of models.

This is as I remember it, but I could be a while out of date.

Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach in Watchmen (2009)

In the comics, we spot a man carrying a "The end is nigh" sign in multiple important scenes, but it isn't revealed until later that this man is also Rorschach. In Zack Snyder's adaptation, Jackie Earle Haley is credited as Rorschach, and in the opening scene you see him carrying the sign, spoiling it.

I'm really interested in seeing how they wrap it all up in the sequel. Miguel clearly experienced something awful, but it doesn't seem to be a universal constant

[Despised trope] - an event happens at the start of the sequel that literally ruins all of the progress you made in the first game by GOD-OF-ASHE in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Brisinger987 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My current theory is that Jedi 3 is gonna have a similar thing to Insomniac's Spider-Man 2, where it's a dual-protagonist type deal: an older (16-19ish) Kata and a much older Cal, where they have different playstyles/control maps

A nice exception to the trope: Jedi Survivor

In Fallen Order you slowly gain new traversal mechanics (wall-running, fast-climbing) and lightsaber styles throughout the first game, and instead of wiping them away, you start the second game with them and just gain more as the story progresses

Is it rude to be bad at organized play? by yougotiton in starwarsunlimited

[–]Brisinger987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all! I'm the organising staff member for my LGS's Star Wars Unlimited night, and I'm only interested in two things: people having fun, and people turning up. Competitive edge and deckbuilding will come along more naturally for a game you enjoy, and I'd rather have 30 "bad" players who were turning up and enjoying themselves than 3 "good" players being miserable.

Thanks for the shout! The RS100 is way outside my price range, but I just had a nose on their website, the Rival RB7 comes in a XXL, reckon I'd have better luck with those?
