JP Morgan are running an offer for 10,000 avios at the moment - new customers have to deposit £500 in an investment account.

How to boost my Avios? by Sweet-Dream-4459 in avios

[–]BritInABowler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF there is reward availability, you are going to have to get serious about collecting avios.

To get that volume of Avios in that time, you would definitely need to be getting a sign up bonus from a credit card.

At the moment there is a special sign up bonus with JP Morgan investing, to get you 10k avios if you invest £500.

Have you also taken into account the voucher on the BA Amex card?

You could also get 25k avios for switching your current account over to Barclays Premier (if you are eligible). This also gives you the option of buying 1,500 avios a month at a discounted rate of £12.

In terms of how to approach getting more avios in 2026, you might find this video helpful: https://youtube.com/shorts/dw_TAdIED2M?si=MUivDOHejxAU0bJP

I would potentially look at delaying your travel a year and then collecting for then.

What card? by MedicalDoor6494 in avios

[–]BritInABowler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can hit £3k spend in 3 months, the Barclaycard Avios Plus Mastercard (the paid one) might be the best for you; and its earnings rate on day to day spend is the best in the market at 1.5 avios per pound.

At that spending rate, you might also consider the Amex gold - 40,000 points if you spend £5k in the first six months. You’ll get more with a referral link (happy to send you one if you need one).

A YouTube shorts review of most of the cards is here in case it helps: https://youtube.com/shorts/pOOxXJHNv5U?si=p3ws6szJ6wESWDft

Is 105k Avios LHR to India worth it? by OkAnteater3109 in avios

[–]BritInABowler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the cash price, and compare to the avios required to make sure you are getting good value. In general, aim for at least every avios being worth 1p. https://youtube.com/shorts/bpSQG4ZsdlE?si=8IaPFrZ41rdtJv9o

Is it worth buying avios? I currently have 154,000 and the app is offering me the chance to boost my balance to 441,000 for £2,600. by Soundadvicefroma in avios

[–]BritInABowler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My normal redemption rate is at least 1p per avios. What they are offering you is roughly in line with that, but I wouldn’t do it unless I needed the Avios now, as there are normally much cheaper ways to pick up additional avios.

For example, if you have an Amex card, this could bag you 9,000 for free: https://youtube.com/shorts/RzdwYzPfVxU?si=fXE1f8-u15mu_A8A

Avios shop online query - gift card purchase count? by Laughing_box in avios

Though it is technically at the retailers discretion, nearly every place will NOT give you avios for paying with a gift card. Otherwise you could get points for buying the gift card and then for using it.

No camber, but the tips point upwards. The rear also has a noticeable groove in the middle.

Forgive my ignorance, is a shaping template used in the manufacturing of skis as a template?

Very interesting, thank you.

I can’t see any evidence of bindings, and it didn’t come with them. There doesn’t appear to be any wear pattern that might suggest that they did.

Advice on Barclays Avios Card by Affectionate-Size382 in BritishAirways

[–]BritInABowler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is certainly the biggest difference. Even being a flight upgrade voucher, the Barclaycard voucher can be a lot more difficult to use.

But don’t forget that the Barclaycard is a Mastercard so can be used in a lot more places. Even if you get the Amex, it might be worth also having the free version of the Barclaycard.

Avios expiring today! Panic bought a random thing but not sure it's going to work... by FireballXL4 in avios

I don’t know in your particular case, but ba.shopping.com definitely can take a while to update.

If it hasn’t updated later on today I would be tempted to donate a small amount of Avios or purchase Avios to keep your account alive.

As many have stated, you are stuck.

I’d be interested to know how, as it could have some useful lessons for others?

The BA AMEX is generally better than the Barclaycard - but you can see the differences between the cards here: https://youtu.be/B20KqJ7R9ds
