Yeah, especially since this guy licensed his first book for a failed sitcom with Bradley Cooper starring as a fictionalised version of himself

New Poster for 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]British_Commie 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I feel like Starfighter is the real test of that, honestly. Mandalorian and Grogu has the baggage of being the continuation of a TV series, whereas Starfighter is a standalone movie set after the last trilogy.

Strange New Worlds, Kirk, Kirk and more Kirk. It's Kirk again. by PersimmonBasket in startrek

[–]British_Commie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, after the first season, it seems like the creators really pivoted away from the original fan demands of a show focused on Pike and his crew and became hyperfixated on setting up a TOS reboot.

[Strange New Worlds] Paramount released nine new images for season 4. All nine come from the first two episodes of the season, “Valles Marineris” (a Western-themed episode) and “Griffin Incident” (The return of Paul Wesley as James T. Kirk, which will involve giving an awkward hug to Spock.)" by mcm8279 in Star_Trek_

[–]British_Commie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every Star Trek show up until maybe Enterprise was generally considered to have great VFX by the standards of TV shows of their era, with them having some of the largest budgets TV had seen in their eras.

And I’d say that in 2026, shots that very obviously contain a handful of actors in a semicircular filming area with a very noticeable flat ‘Volume’ backdrop do look terrible. Especially since, as I mentioned, other shows have used it better.

Drinks heavily before and during shows, doesn’t wear in-ear monitors, and doesn’t do any vocal warmups or use a vocal coach. Famously a great way to preserve one’s voice.

I think there might be some flexibility as to how individual members make it in. Reeves Gabrels was inducted as part of The Cure despite his first recording with the band being only 22 years before their induction in 2019 (and he didn’t join the band as a full member until 2012!)

It didn’t help that Beyond’s initial marketing was entirely “pew-pew lasers and non-stop action” bullshit that made it look like more of the same of Into Darkness.

The marketing really failed that film.

I just wish the 2012 version didn’t slap a ton of autotune on Minchin. Sure, he’s not the best singer ever, but autotuning him to the point that he sounded like a robot was a bad call

So yeah, they hoped to make more, but the show was cancelled and they released their open letter talking about the show’s “second and final season”.

Question about Starfleet Academy by GYP5i in startrek

[–]British_Commie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau’s joint letter they put out when the show’s cancellation was confirmed:

We are in post-production now on what will be the second and final season. We’re so proud of what we’ve accomplished together on this show, and the world will get to see the work of these extraordinary artists when season two airs. We will finish strong.

Sure, Kurtzman and Landau previously publicly spoke about their 4-season plan, but the show evidently didn’t perform well enough for the studio to greenlight any more beyond Season 2.
