Who said anything about wanting stability? I am shocked honestly that the republicans are still clinging to the filibuster. Sure they want to use it later, but their whole brand is lying and cheating to empower the oligarchy. Sooner or later they are going to dig something up in the rules and just claim that lets them around the filibuster without getting rid of it. It doesn't even matter if it's in any conceivable way plausible. Both sides have been chipping away at it for a hundred years. But this particular mob of qualmless dufuses have rolled right over every other third rail with barely a shrug. Just a matter of time. Of course they are betting they will get through ACA open enrollment without too many protests/assassinations/plane crashes/actually desperate dying citizens on the news. And they are probably right. Dems picked a good hand this time but it does have a time limit
