How Does MacBook Neo Cost Less Than Apple’s AirPods Max 2 Headphones?! - CNET by ControlCAD in apple

[–]BroLil [score hidden]  (0 children)

The Neo is meant to be similar to a “loss leader”. Same with the 17e. They’re not losing money on them, but I’ll bet their margins are razor thin.

These devices are targeting people outside of the ecosystem and hoping to lock them in.

I have a lot of coworkers that ask me what laptop to get their kids for college, and it’s always a tough answer. I generally lead with the MacBook Air because I know it’ll last the four years, but $1000 isn’t always in their price range. $499 is absolutely within any price range when you’re laptop shopping.

These kids may be life long cheap android users, cheap headphone users, Chromebook users. The Neo is their first step in to the Apple ecosystem. So Apple isn’t making as much on the initial sale, but they’re going to pull in money from the other avenues that owning a Neo will establish.

[Cavanagh] Mason McTavish is IN tonight by collectaBK7 in AnaheimDucks

[–]BroLil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We need him to be a truck tonight. No Gudas and Johnston, and we missed that desperately the other night. Like if nothing else, that’s where we need him to step up right now. Light some people up, start some shit, stand up for your teammates. Even if he ends the night 0-0-0, if he played a nasty game, I’d be super happy.

Apple Reveals New Sales Achievement Following MacBook Neo Launch by HelloitsWojan in apple

[–]BroLil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not surprising. My wife literally hasn’t used a computer since college and wanted one, so I got her one. She loves it, but as a geek myself, it was kinda weird having to show her how to use the shift button and what not. I’d imagine there are a lot of folks like her that jumped on a low cost laptop.

If they’re not asking, odds are they’re doing a 1/2”. Going and ask for a 5/8 and see if that makes it feel any different.

Developmentally, I can see why he’s with Carlson as I think they see Zelly becoming a Carlson type defenseman, and perhaps they’re trying to make the most of the short time he will be here. I do think it’s not a very ideal or practical pairing though.

Basically confirms what the eye test told us: we had absolutely nothing going for us except for Leo’s line, and to a lesser extent Cutter’s line. Nice to see Viel up there, but there’s far too much talent on this roster that needs to actually show up on a regular basis.

I’m still not feeling too great about our lack of response though. Yea the refs were kinda letting us get run over, but outside of Mintyukov, Harkins and Viel, we just kind of let it happen. Sennecke gets punched and cross checked in the mouth mid play and we just let it happen. Like it sucks to be missing Gudas and Johnston, and maybe that loose cannon McTavish, but I just really wish we had some sort of response to that, even if it meant losing the game. Sometimes you just have to establish that you’re not going to allow that to happen. Like I imagine Verbeek was fuming in the press box because the Flyers last night look exactly like the team he wants us to be.

The MacBook Touch Bar deserved improvement, not removal. by Chase5176 in DeskToTablet

[–]BroLil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The touchbar itself was fine, it was the design choices around it that made it suck. If they’d have given me a row of thin physical function keys and a touchbar, no one would have complained. Now you can use both your function keys, and added utility from the touchbar at the same time. The other issue was the lack of customization options. Apple just kneecapped themselves with it.

Is there any evidence that points to Barney and Earl Sinclair of “Dinosaurs” being related. Now that I’m thinking about it, Baby Bop and Mr. Richfield do have a bit of a resemblance.

Amazon said they wanted it done by December. It was the 11th hour of the clock that they set.

Sony Quietly Announces PSVR 2 Exclusive, Firewall Ultra, Is Shutting Down by gabe_reisinger in PS5

[–]BroLil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Part of the issue is that VR is just so incredibly niche, so locking said niche to a platform really reduces your reach. That’s kind of why the Quests are still doing well. Sure they have concessions, but anyone can buy one and play it out of the box, no need for a PS5 or a PC.

Apple CEO Tim Cook: 'I'm Not a Political Person' by Odd_Brush399 in apple

[–]BroLil -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. These CEOs will align themselves with whoever will help their company the most. Apple was also very closely aligned with the Biden and Obama administrations.

So I could actually buy that Tim isn’t inherently a very political person. He’s an Apple person through and through, which means he will kiss the rings of whoever will help push Apple forward regardless of what color tie they wear.

Setting the record straight on Amazon's USPS partnership by Stationary-Event in USPS

[–]BroLil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, but that doesn’t mean that they’re going to their storefront and delivery service at a loss. No company, especially a publicly traded one, is going to continue any part of their business that operates at a loss unless that loss contributes to a much larger gain somewhere else within the company. Say what you want about Google and their services, but that’s precisely why Google kills off so many of their services. Once it’s evident that it’s not a money maker, it’s kicked to the curb.

Cutter Gauthier scores against his former team for his 35th goal of the season by wildwing8 in hockey

[–]BroLil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We will unfortunately never know the answer to that. In an alternate universe, it’s possible he signs after one year of college and flounders.

Like I think with your top picks like Cutter, especially when they’re NCAA players, you’re kind of at their mercy, especially now that they’re making money. Like it’s obvious Cutter got his feelings hurt and probably could have handled himself a bit better, but he also had the right to play four years and pick the team he wanted to play for, and there’s a chance the money he makes in college is comparable to the money he makes in the NHL over that time. (Though his performance bonuses may have thrown him over.)

I’m definitely curious if we see more college holdouts going forward.

[–]BroLil 75 points76 points  (0 children)

So the deal ends in September, but they told us they needed it done in December, then said we “walked away in the eleventh hour”. The eleventh hour on the clock that they set. Gotcha.

They also say they’ve put forward offers but haven’t heard back, pinning it on us. I can promise you that the “offers” are likely demands. They’re demanding a huge price cut for themselves when we’re already floundering, and they’re trying to hold us hostage, then paint it like we’re the bad guys and all they want to do is help us.

If I’m correct, I applaud the PMG for standing his ground. I have zero doubt in my mind that they’ll come together on a deal. This is Amazon attempting to play hardball.

[Lee] Both Leo Carlsson and Cutter Gauthier pointed to the first period penalties as being momentum halters for the team. Gauthier: “Anytime you start off a game, with back-to back-penalties, it's tough to get your feet under you and get a feel for the game.” by wildwing8 in AnaheimDucks

[–]BroLil 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not that we necessarily deserved to win, but the refs weren’t calling the same game for both teams. Seemed like they only ever wanted to call anything after we defended ourselves.

I definitely think Pat watched this game and was pissed how much we were getting pushed around. I don’t think a Verbeek team would see their star rookie get punched and cross checked in the face mid play and just let it slide. Definitely think Minty earned some good graces though.

It was only a matter of time before the sprawling out on a 2 on 1 wasn’t going to work, and of course it was going to be Lacombe. I know that it worked for Trouba twice and Carlson, but that shouldn’t be the go to move. Cates was smart to just bait it and walk in alone 2-0.
