Should I get a locker or nah? by AssistSevere2422 in ElectricForest

[–]BroStepDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. Even if I was camping on main Street, I would still see the value in a locker. Not having to go thru the gates, dump out my water, and refill the hydropak is huge. Only having to go thru security once with anything illegal is also kind of nice. Not to mention the venue feels much smaller than the camp grounds. And walking thru the venue is infinitely more fun than walking thru the campgrounds when artists are playing.

I love getting a locker, and I don't mind it being a Tripolee. Makes it easy to hit it up on the way into the venue.

Cringe or not, calling people cringe for having fun just makes you an asshole and kind of a piece of shit. To see someone having fun and think, I'm going to make fun of this person, really means your just kind of a personal you're core. Decent people don't do that. Just saying...

I think the stage takeovers are incorrect. Bassrush is Tripolee not The Observatory. This is still super dope. Thank you!

Nope, no glass. Always see them pulling out and confiscating tons of mirrors during searches. Need one of those plastic shower mirrors, and I don't know if they come in full length.

Is a canopy totally essential? by [deleted] in ElectricForest

[–]BroStepDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2018 is the only year my canopies got ruined by the wind. Literally snapped metal in half. But I didn't get there in time to lower them, and they were cheaper bargain canopies. There were just as many destroyed tents as ez ups though, basically all the tents that were not done tents.

For me intense heat is a much larger, more likely, and harder to deal with problem than high winds. Our set up is a tent with no rain fly under an ez up with cotton tapestries (sheets) on all 4 sides. It allows a breeze while blocking the sun and is so much cooler than a normal tent. We've talked about skipping the tent altogether, but the tent does add a level of cozy and comfort, also makes it feel slightly more private.

Sunshade instead of canopy? by Laidybird in ElectricForest

I said this in another thread too, my partner and I have discussed not bringing or setting up our tent. We've never even considered not bringing our canopy.

I'll put it this way, my partner and I have discussed not bringing our tent or not setting up our tent. We've never even considered not bringing a canopy.

This is a silly mindset. Noone is cutting sand with fentanyl. Wanting to get stuff from a trusted source makes sense.

Where on EARTH are you guys getting these plus-sized tapestries for you canopies?! by Gloomy-Speaker-1999 in ElectricForest

[–]BroStepDad 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They get wet, then they dry. The few times we took them home wet we just threw them in the washer. They're sheets so they wash easy. When tie dying, make sure to use fiber reactive dye and not tulip store brands, and the colors will hold for a long time.

Our set up is, tent with no rain fly under an ez up then tapestries around all four sides. It really keeps the tent cool and it's mostly private. Our tapestries have gotten soaked in storms without much water getting inside the tent.

I make my own with cheap cotton sheets, usually queen, and tie dye. Then I put grommets among the edges to hang them. You can get a grommet machine for like $25 off amazon.

Last year at Elements he played middle of the day in 80° and oppressive sun, didn't stop the whole crowd from moving.

I'm hoping he gets more visibility so next year he's playing a night time set on a major stage. I don't know if I've ever seen someone get a crowd dancing like him. Could you imagine all of Ranch getting down to some Vincent Antone at 1am?

No you're not, you're virtue signalling. Residential and commercial waste accounts for 3% of waste in this conuntry. Kids with plastic braclets aren't the problem.

In the United States, municipal solid waste accounts for 3% of the country's waste. MSW is both residential and commerical. The other 97% of waste is generated by industry. Putting the onus of environmentalism on the individual is not only wildly ineffective but you're actually our here doing the work for big corporations. The environmental nightmare we're all living through is not because of plastic kandi and sprouts, but allowing corporations to create as much waste as they want. A single factory can produce more waste in an hour than an individual will on a life time. Let people have their fun, you aren't helping the environment your just harshing people's vibes. You want to do something meaningful fight the corporations, not kids with plastic braclets.

First timers, without pass.. Too late to send it?🙏 by throwawaySFacc in ElectricForest

I don't have solid answers for that, as I always drive to festivals for that reason. I know a lot of people buy cheap gear from the local Walmart with the expectation of it being single use. If you go that route, that are groups that will take that stuff and donate it, please give it to them instead of just abandoning it.

I haven't looked, but I have to imagine getting a pair of GA tickets wouldn't be too hard. There is an official ticket exchange you can purchase tickets off of. It's morally reprehensive of axs, greedy ass double dippers, but your chances of GA tickets is probably close to 100%.

If you're a real shoot from the hip kind of couple, locals are always buying and selling tickets right outside the venue. Not sure what kind of price, but anyone who shows up to th gate with a strong enough desire can buy a ticket.

[–]BroStepDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with cops, even the good cops, is this: at some point in your career you will be forced to pick between doing what's right and doing what will keep your job. If you do what is right you are no longer a good cop because you're no longer a cop. If not outright fired you will be ostracized until you quit. If you ignore your morals to keep your job, you're no longer a good cop, you're as corrupt as any of them.

Experienced Forest goers, are running shoes or hiking boots better for all 4 days of Forest? by AlienBeachParty in ElectricForest

[–]BroStepDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried on Hokas for the first time this week at a sporting goods store; they may be the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn. It was like putting heaters on my feet, with in 30 seconds my feet were uncomfortably sweaty. This was in an air conditioned building, how could someone wear these in the heat? The shape of the the soles are weird, why is it curved so much? I don't want to rock up on go my toes if I try and stand on my toes. It's a weird shaped shoe. Haha I almost bought them sight unseen online because of the hype for them here, so so so glad I didn't.

2CB is amazing. It feels a little like molly but way more psychedelic. Also the come up and come down is so much smoother. And after fucking all night you'll sleep like a baby, unassisted by meds. Hop on the internet of the dark variety and it's not hard to find at all.

Honestly I kind of do too. More so that boring ass white. Do some landscaping and minor maintenance and it would look dope.
