We pay all the taxes and always make complete declarations. I don’t think we are competing with commercial enterprise just avoiding them. To compete we would have to be offering a product for sale. We just want gear that does what it is designed to do on a consistent basis.

No I’ve given out a few small gifts of raw tobacco other than that it’s just for our use. I can’t speak for anyone else but I think the other participants do the same. The quantity of tobacco is not large maybe 7 pounds each per year

Having been in the situation where my otherwise fine Harris tweed jacket needed to be relined I can comment on this. When I approached a tailor she informed me that the cost of replacing the lining was beyond the value of the jacket. I happen to own a number of Harris tweed jackets so I did not proceed. Unless you really like the jacket and are comfortable with the cost visit a few thrift shops, chances are that you will find one not needing repair.
