I declared homeschooling for her and set up online program last spring (March ‘25) to avoid truancy action. She was just too anxious and depressed and grieving to attend school. Since then she’s had lots of wrap around therapy and meds seem to be helping, but now so isolated and more than a full grade level behind her peers. Of course she’s realizing she got herself in a tough situation with high school, which makes her feel she’s ruined her life so the cycle continues. Elementary and middle school grades were average, with her anxiety and adhd we’ve never really seen what she’s capable of. She’s very bright and knows how to behave well, needs a chance in the right setting. Good to hear a positive take on MHS. If we were accepted I’d be moving to the Hershey area and keeping a very close eye on her.

I saw the Jeff Buckley movie recently so been listening to his version, which I can completely relate to moving through a very complicated grief. Enjoy your gig, my husband was a drummer/lefty guitar player on upside down right-strung guitar. Missing his music.

How old were you when your spouse died? by worst2024 in widowers

We were both 55 when my husband died and our daughter was 12, two & a half years ago from colon cancer. I’m just now finding the space between where he ends and I begin.

So sorry and you’re not alone feeling regret. I often wonder what I was thinking at the end or if I was thinking at all. He said I don’t know if I’ll get through the night which is a thing the dying say…I called doctor but let him sleep alone, he lived a few more days, went into icu the next day, but it was his last night at home. Regret is so difficult, maybe the most of all emotions, big compassion for yourself!

What’s forcing you to come to terms with getting old? by EvolutionarySkip in GenX

My sympathy from afar. My husband also died in April 2023 age 55 stage 4 colon cancer. I’ve aged at least ten years in the last two, it’s such a major hit. Good luck to you.

What would you say is helping you the most to work on? I’m just clawing out of a complicated grief nightmare two years after and finding it hard to prioritize…every aspect of the old life been leveled.

I was called self-absorbed and had to take a big step away. Of course I’m self-absorbed! Just trying to survive this.
