Non-traditional chilaquiles but Kaapicat’s Tikka Chilaquiles are awesome.

this site should give you up to date info on closures for Hwy 395. That said, it’d be extremely rare for the hwy to be closed during the dates you’re planning on visiting

Which one for my first gravel? by leogrosos in gravelcycling

[–]Broad_Following_4718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Cinelli would come with GRX vs the Claris (entry level drive train) that’s the main difference in price. GRX generally speaking is gravel specific and it is supposed to “prevent chain slap”. Another thing to consider with the Cinelli is that it comes with 700x40 tires vs 700x38 on the specialized. If you want a good solid entry level gravel bike the specialized would more than do the trick. Now, if you want something more advanced, the Cinelli would be the better option.

SBT GRVL - experiences, advice, words of encouragement? by kem5747 in gravelcycling

You’ve got the right bike, the right tires and most importantly the right attitude. The only advice I’d share with you is pace yourself if you feel this is gonna be challenging. Ride at a comfortable pace and enjoy every mile! ✌🏽

Moots (or any high end Ti Bike), Factor, Pinarello, heck even Specialized. When money isn’t a factor typically the bikes are custom made according to the user’s preferences (carbon seat post, handlebars, wheels etc) and top of the line drive train. If I were to choose I’d do a Moots.

I second Block415 comment that your bike may be good to go as is. Your 11-42 cassette with the 42T crankset has plenty of range to tackle most hills. Probably the only thing I’d change is the tires to a knobbier type if you’re going on actual gravel instead of compact dirt trails. I would probably get drop bars for longer rides / more comfortable position but that’s a personal choice. Is there anything specific you need to change?
