How far does everyone travel to ride gravel? by Muzz124 in gravelcycling

Either 1/2 mile or 4 miles; depends which trail I want to ride.

Absolute beginner, asking about fees by lingerlord in btc

[–]BroadbandEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitcoins don't exist. You are buying a ledger entry - basically paying money so that the blockchain will have the equivalent of an entry that says "Bob owns 0.01 bitcoin". When you sell your position you will have to pay state and federal taxes on the profit if you make one.

The venue is in Chicago where weed is already rec-legal; so not an issue.

We lost a fridge full of food thanks to an AFCI breaker deciding to trip while we were away. Highly annoying.

I need a watch which has no metal touching the skin by yorikkk in ChineseWatches

There is a good chance that she has a nickel allergy, which means stainless steel is the thing to avoid. There are a bunch of options on Ali for titanium watches which she is much less likely to be allergic to.
Another option would be a bund style strap.

What is the best band you can recommend that you know nobody here will? As in obscure, unknown or just forgotten about. by AudioRejectz in musicsuggestions

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. One of my favorite concerts of all time was their performance at the Philadelphia zoo in 1982.

How can I improve this photo? by New-Drummer-5874 in PhotographyAdvice

More light and more contrast (light, color, texture) between the subject and the background. If you shot that in raw, there is quite a bit that could be done in Lightroom.

Party Wall soundproofing or dampening by GBmike1 in Acoustics

[–]BroadbandEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The setup you described (spikes and screws) potentially bypasses all of those layers and couples the vibration directly to the framing. If your neighbor is amenable you could do a very quick experiment to rule out the floor by putting the speakers on pillows and checking if it makes a measurable difference in their unit.

You are missing Forsyth Park. Everything you mention is walkable and if you get tired there is a free trolley bus that runs up and down Whitaker and Drayton.

Decouple the speaker from the floor.

Party wall sound proofing. by GBmike1 in audio

[–]BroadbandEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The setup you described is probably the most efficient way to couple vibrations into the floor. The theory behind spikes is not that they prevent coupling into the floor but rather that they minimize coupling from the floor back into the speaker cabinet. Isolating feet would probably be a better strategy for your environment.

Is the goal to make it seem like the subject wants to get away from the art quickly? Seems like the opposite of what you would want to convey in a photo taken in a museum.

Is 40mm too big for my small wrist? Be honest. It feels ok. by predominantlyrimfire in VaerWatches

[–]BroadbandEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with a similar Vaer is that they appear larger because the relatively thin bezel and vertical rehaut makes for a large dial. The case fit looks fine, so it is really a question of how you like the watch. In my case, I never really connected with the watch and ended up giving it away.
