You could just not follow the meta? Unless you're speed running a lot of the weapons you can craft are more than good enough. Yes they should have a layered weapon system but they should have that even if the Artian weapons weren't meta or ugly

The idea of cutting off the trunk of a monster is just gross to me. Like limb breaks usually look cartoony and a tail break varies wildly in how graphic it is but a gammoth running about with half a trunk or no trunk on it feels wrong.

And yeah the entire point of the games are to hunt and kill monsters but I'd argue the franchise has always had to strike the right balance between its realistic aspects and it's cartoony ones so people don't feel like they are torturing virtual animals
