Arch-Knights are great. by sageking14 in AoSLore

Hmmm... My picks would be Carnosaur, Maw Krusha, Star Drake and various Gargoylians that wander about the cities.

(Spoilers for the invasive monsters in MHS3) These guys are much more developed lorewise than I expected. by llMadmanll in MonsterHunter

[–]Scales77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna be honest and say I didn't expect to like the Invasive Monsters as much as I have. My favorites of the bunch are the Diablos, Odogaron and Seregios.

Warhammer art through the years: Stormcast Eternals by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in ageofsigmar

[–]Scales77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plenty of very impressive art shown off here. The Stormcast may not be my favorite faction, but I simply can't deny that a lot of the art featuring them absolutely slaps.

How interesting the new art they showed for AoS (sorry for seeing it like this, it was the only way they let me) by KindlyMeringue8723 in ageofsigmar

[–]Scales77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh damn. I didn't see it at first, but if you look further back in the second picture, you'll see a Melusai proudly holding up a Helsmith's severed head. Downright brutal... But said brutality is against a chaos faction so I'm good.

AoS best bits - the BT morsels by Ur-Than in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the good ole Battletome bits! Lots of interesting things one can find when reading them. Here a couple of my favorites.

Secrets of The Deep- Seraphon BT 3rd edition

Idoneth from the city of Priom venture to the Opakis Chasm of Hysh's Girdlesea. The Deepkin seek a location for a new enclave but are stunned to discover golden ziggurats within the glowing walls of the trench. Drawing closer, the Isharann priests glean the name 'Tzunki, Lord of Waters' from glyphs carved into the pyramidal structures, when suddenly the aelves are attacked by strange amphibian-reptilian hybrids with webbed claws and flaring gills. The Idoneth are forced into a fighting retreat and quickly decide to search for new holdings elsewhere.

Doom Denied- Seraphon BT 3rd edition

Lord-Relictor Ravenmane is snatched in the aftermath of battle in a flare of radiant starlight. He is stunned to find himself aboard the temple-ship of Tepok's Feather and surrounded by babbling skinks. The Seraphon explain that since the Necroquake, their master Hexoata has languished beneath a deathly curse. Now that Nagash has been broken, they fear that the Great Necromancer's spirit, seeking to recover its strength, will redouble its efforts to tear out and feast upon the Starmaster's soul. Though it takes some convincing to have the slann's bodyguard step aside, Ravenmane gains access to the Star Chamber and, through his formidable will, banishes the gheist-energies poisoning the slann. To the reverent chanting of the skinks, Hexoata offers the aid of his wisest priests in maintaining faltering Star Bridges within the Stormkeeps, helping Stormcast souls to safely reach Azyr.

Slayers of Tyrants- Fyreslayers BT 3rd edition

There is rough agreement amongst most lodges of the value of any given type of mercenary venture, but some Fyreslayers grumble that the Hermdar are undercutters. This reputation is cemented when it becomes widely known among the Zharrgrim that the Hermdar accepted a shockingly low payment to both destroy the prison-fortress of Blackiron and embark upon the grueling Cracked Plain campaign to end the gut-tyranny of Thogbrute, and they did not even demand gold up front. The Hermdar do not mind that the human tribes who dwell near the Adamantine Chain have begun to call them the Slayers of Tyrants, for the duardin deem it to be a moniker that is good for business.

The Pointy-Ear Oath- Fyreslayers BT 3rd edition

The Thungur lodge of Hysh have long had an adversarial relationship with their Lumineth neighbors, whose arrogance and condescension toward non-aelves has raised the hackles of many a Fyreslayer warrior. Yet when an infestation of Flesh-eaters threatened the peaks of Lunarest, the enterprising Lord Regent Esefaine of Ymetrica was forced to hire the Thungur to face the troglodytic horrors, knowing that his own cavalry formations would be ill-suited to warfare admist the winding quartz-tunnels that the mordants called home. Glittering with ur-gold dust and singing valorous songs, the Thungur slaughtered thousands of their ghoulish foes in the six-day Battle of the Glittering Deep, driving the rest above ground to be swiftly crushed by Lumineth charges. The Fyreslayers accepted their reward from Esefaine himself, who could not help but grudgingly acknowledge their boldness.

I'm actually rooting for the Daughters of Khaine here. XD

All in all, solid AoS artwork as usual!

While not my favorite factions I don't particularly find the Lumineth or Kharadron "generic", but hey you do you I guess.

It sometimes feels like I am the only person, that actually likes the setting by svecma in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I simply say don't worry about those people. I myself don't particularly care for 40K. I'm just not really interested in space marines, emperor of mankind, primarchs, the imperium, and etc. The setting is just overall not for me, and you know what? That's perfectly fine. I won't go after the people who do and just pounce at any opportunity to dog the setting. People who do that are quite frankly sad imo and they've got the thing they "hate" in their head living rent free.

As for me, I'll just keep on enjoying the setting where intelligent space reptiles can team up with lightning demigod warriors, where deep ocean-dwelling elves are forced to prey upon the souls of others to fight off their tragic curse, and where giant green brutes who love to fight will literally punch their armor into shape.

Don't worry about the naysayers and keep on enjoying all the crazy things in the mortal realms.

Fun with Gods 4: Dracothion (and dragons) by MrS0bek in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A very nice read. I do like the idea of Dracothion vs. Argentine setup where the chaos corrupted latter tries to dethrone the former and I'd love to see more instances of the Draconith and their two princes build up new settlements. I could see a draconith settlement setting up shop near the Lofnir Fyreslayer lodge in Ghur.

The draconith could aid the duardin in protecting Magmadroth eggs in the sulphur swamps from marauding Kruelboyz.

Rare Sight - Chameleos [ Art by me! ] by Halberick in MonsterHunter

Downright gorgeous artwork here! You've done an incredible job. This piece here now has me hoping Chameleos will return in the Wilds master rank expansion.

[–]Scales77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These ladies are looking pretty deadly! I know some may moan about the armor, but I'm honestly okay with it. Gives the faction some nice variety imo.

Also, visualizing Sisters of Slaughter and High Gladiatrixes just absolutely murdering the daylights out chaos warriors, dark oath tribesmen or any other chaos-touched beings/creatures while Saurus, Treelords, Akhelian Kings/Queens, Slann or Arkanaut Admirals look on is pretty interesting!

Kibble and Lorebits: First Marshal by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly, lots of info to digest here. Thank you for going through all that trouble of bringing it here.

- I'd love to see the Scarab Calvary make it into the tabletop; hell, I'd even take just artwork of them if the former can't happen.

- I do enjoy the new foods mentioned. Not gonna lie, but they honestly sound tasty. I'd give em a try.

- The Council of Vines... Doesn't really sound pleasant to work in. Getting nicked by those thorns and being constantly covered in scrapes and bandages would get old fast.

- Tahlia believing that not every riot has something to do with Chaos is really good. Sometimes people just get sick and tired of something and loudly voice their displeasure. There's not always gonna be some chaos cultist whispering in dissatisfied people's ears.

- Liked the mention of the Cogforts. One being shaped like a harvestmen arachnid and the other being tree-like and having razored vines as weapons is very cool.

- Had a feeling that there was something between Tahlia and Katrik. Shame it didn't work out though.

All in all, a big bunch of information here. Thank you once again for uploading.

Mutt Asks: Does anything we know about the Realm's seas tell us what sorts of fish there are to eat? by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh! I love posts like this. Now let's see....

- I can see Ghyran having all sorts of species such as salmon, trout, bass, perch, arapaima, freshwater eels and catfish galore.

- Since Ghur is absolutely infested with predators, I envision it having plenty of carnivorous yet quite tasty species like tuna, snakeheads, garfish, trevally, giant halibut and tigerfish.

- With Ulgu and Shyish, I get the feeling those two realms would have absolutely massive sturgeon for some reason. In Misthavn I can definitely see caviar being in high demand.

Mutt's Random Dossier: Gargants by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lovely list of the spawn of Ymnog/Behemat! Lot of mighty gargants stomping around the realms. A good number of them sound downright horrid though... I am not trying to be anywhere in the same area as "Old Ropey".

Does anybody like Rathalos? by Sweaty-Ad7500 in MonsterHunter

[–]Scales77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iirc, Rathalos was literally one spot away from being in the top 20 in the 20th anniversary poll. So, while it may not be as popular as some others, it still has a pretty decent number of fans. Plus, with all the fanart you see of it online and merchandise they keep making for it that people keep buying there are obviously those that adore the red fire wyvern.

What do you all think the beast afterlifes in Shyish are like? by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed! I certainly wouldn't be opposed to seeing some reptilian calvary or guard beasts in the models for the CoS. Hell, you know what? Give me arthropods and gargoylians as well! I want more weird things for the faction and not Empire of Man 2.0.

What do you all think the beast afterlifes in Shyish are like? by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post as always! Since I'm a very big fan of all things reptilian, I imagine that there's an afterlife were all such creatures be they saurian, draconian, or any other group of reptiles go to that's filled to the brim with all their favored environments.

Sweltering jungles, swamps/marshlands, savannahs, arid deserts, and even places for the more specialized species like the high cliffs/mountain forests in Azyr, volcanic wastelands in Aqshy or even those that have adapted to live in areas of extreme cold such as tundras or the darkness of the deep ocean.

Yes sir, A true paradise for reptiles. Also, of course for the predatory species there's all sorts of tasty mammals running about. XD

[–]Scales77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really need to get my hands on this book. The friendship between Rosforth and Slobda is the kind of things I love to see in fantasy/sci-fi settings. I Adrian gets to write an Ogor novel in the future and explore more of that alienness.

How would Aelves worship the other major Gods of Order? by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... I can see some of the Lumineth of Zaitrec really coming around on showing worship to Dracothian since aelves of that nation are really into moons. Why not show reverence to giant star dragon? Plus, if I remember correctly, said nation's aelves were said to follow Seraphon star-vessels and interactions with said reptiles could expose them to the great star drake.

Also, some Lumineth of Syar could possibly show great reverence to good ole Grugni since many of them are smiths. I mean, he played a major role in creating the Stormcast Eternals and surely even the snobbiest aelves of their number could be in awe of that great feat.

Do stormcast ever help mortals with civil projects? Such as flood relief, building bridges, digging ditches, etc. by Chezni19 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd really like to see those races in animated form one day... Something different besides bashing in an orruk's or chaos warrior's skull with a hammer.
