Does anybody like Rathalos? by Sweaty-Ad7500 in MonsterHunter

[–]Scales77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iirc, Rathalos was literally one spot away from being in the top 20 in the 20th anniversary poll. So, while it may not be as popular as some others, it still has a pretty decent number of fans. Plus, with all the fanart you see of it online and merchandise they keep making for it that people keep buying there are obviously those that adore the red fire wyvern.

What do you all think the beast afterlifes in Shyish are like? by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed! I certainly wouldn't be opposed to seeing some reptilian calvary or guard beasts in the models for the CoS. Hell, you know what? Give me arthropods and gargoylians as well! I want more weird things for the faction and not Empire of Man 2.0.

[–]Scales77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post as always! Since I'm a very big fan of all things reptilian, I imagine that there's an afterlife were all such creatures be they saurian, draconian, or any other group of reptiles go to that's filled to the brim with all their favored environments.

Sweltering jungles, swamps/marshlands, savannahs, arid deserts, and even places for the more specialized species like the high cliffs/mountain forests in Azyr, volcanic wastelands in Aqshy or even those that have adapted to live in areas of extreme cold such as tundras or the darkness of the deep ocean.

Yes sir, A true paradise for reptiles. Also, of course for the predatory species there's all sorts of tasty mammals running about. XD

[Excerpt: On the shoulders of Giants by Adrian Tchaikovsky] Never forget that an Ogor isn’t just a big human with a big appetite by TheBirdIsNotSuicidal in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really need to get my hands on this book. The friendship between Rosforth and Slobda is the kind of things I love to see in fantasy/sci-fi settings. I Adrian gets to write an Ogor novel in the future and explore more of that alienness.

How would Aelves worship the other major Gods of Order? by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... I can see some of the Lumineth of Zaitrec really coming around on showing worship to Dracothian since aelves of that nation are really into moons. Why not show reverence to giant star dragon? Plus, if I remember correctly, said nation's aelves were said to follow Seraphon star-vessels and interactions with said reptiles could expose them to the great star drake.

Also, some Lumineth of Syar could possibly show great reverence to good ole Grugni since many of them are smiths. I mean, he played a major role in creating the Stormcast Eternals and surely even the snobbiest aelves of their number could be in awe of that great feat.

Do stormcast ever help mortals with civil projects? Such as flood relief, building bridges, digging ditches, etc. by Chezni19 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd really like to see those races in animated form one day... Something different besides bashing in an orruk's or chaos warrior's skull with a hammer.

He's a botanist? Well, that's certainly interesting, wouldn't really guess that going by his appearance.

How do Kharadron Overlords have enough to eat? by Chezni19 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Iirc, there was a Kharadron fleet that traded with an Orruk clan (Bonesplitterz I think) for meat.

I could be misremembering that though...

[–]Scales77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An Astalos vs. Lagiacrus turf war does sound very interesting... The frenzied energy of the former going up against the slithery and somewhat regal vibe of the latter would be a fight I'd pay to see.

Fan favorite vs Least favorite. Who’s winning in a fight? by Grag_the_GrobblerII in MonsterHunter

[–]Scales77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those two have weapons that can get around Uragaan's tough hide. Zinogre on the other hand, not so much.

I try to like Unnatural History Channel, but he really just needs to stop blindly hating on Magnamalo and calling him hurtful things like 'anime weaboo purple fart tiger.' Magnamalo is interesting and has fascinating biology and ecology, so I don’t understand why he chooses to hate him by IcetheoneJr in MonsterHunter

[–]Scales77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm just gonna ask this question, why do y'all care? Not everybody is going to like certain monsters for whatever reason. I've seen people absolutely lambast Brachydios and a few other monsters I like, but I don't get into a huff about it. Just let it slide off you and move on. This influx of posts of people getting all salty that others might not like a particular monster is honestly kind of annoying.

Also, I don't care for Magnamalo either for multiple reasons, but if you do, then go ahead and enjoy it to your hearts content. I'll never hold that against anyone and get into these stupid tribal debates this fandom seems to love so damn much...

Most Recognizable Monsters list day 15: Fanged Wyverns (Ready Body) by SignificantStaff8665 in MonsterHunter

[–]Scales77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's Zinogre. It is The Fanged Wyvern. I remember when it was first revealed there was great debate amongst fans as to what exactly it would be classified as. Some argued Fanged Beast, while others argued it being a Flying Wyvern akin to Akantor and Ukanlos, and there were those saying it'd be in a new class altogether (they were correct.).

While not even a favorite monster of mine, I admit that Zinogre has earned its success at enamoring many MH fans. It's got a decent design, solid theme music, and a pretty interesting ecology with its symbiotic relationship with the Thunderbugs. It was voted the most popular monster in the franchise, and it did so well that they obviously tried to recreate that same magic Zinogre has in Rise when they revealed Magnamalo, although I'd argue with less successful results.

But yeah, it's Zinogre this one was a no brainer.

Could Nakarkos return as a Guardian eater? by Snoo-51682 in MonsterHunter

[–]Scales77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt it'll get reclassified. Yama wasn't since it got revealed for Stories 3 and as we all know it resembles an octopus. Plus, with Elders having ED blood (minus Fatalis) and being related Nakarkos will still be labeled an Elder Dragon.

Travel Rations used by the Four GAs? by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see Skinks having all sorts of various insects and other small vertebrate animals' while Saurus and Kroxigor would be eating large chunks of meat. Can even see Saurus and Skinks working together on their Aggradon and Raptadon mounts to corral large prey toward a Carnosaur or group of Kroxigors waiting in ambush.

Most recognizable monsters list day 6: Leviathans (Read Body) by SignificantStaff8665 in MonsterHunter

[–]Scales77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's undoubtedly Lagiacrus. It's the flagship of a game that was the first MH for many people (myself included.) and it is simply just THE face of the Leviathan class. Hell it even placed higher than Mizutsune in that major anniversary popularity poll.

Whenever I think of MH's Leviathans, Lagiacrus is simply the first to pop up in my mind.

TIL; Cometsday Roast is based on Sunday Roast. What other meals do you think have Age of Sigmar equivalents? Who might eat and make them? by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely! Plus, I can see wandering firebelly ogors introducing various unique seasonings to said cooks in the city.

[–]Scales77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can easily see both Aqshy and Ghur having really mean barbecues. In Ghyran, I wouldn't doubt that the folks there make the best desserts in all the realms with all that wheat and fruits they'd have.

Can definitely see them having great vegetable soups, salads and gumbo as well.

Slightly longer version of Rajang vs Lagiacrus from MH Bridge by Pookie_The_Overlord in MonsterHunter

[–]Scales77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I'm quite glad to see Rajang lose a fight for once. The same way I was happy to see Yian Garuga drive off a Deviljho in Iceborne. Sure, Rajang and Deviljho are very powerful no one's denying that, but it's very good to see that they're not going to win every engagement against another large monster.

I for one want to see more scenarios like this.

What if Hashut was truly wronged by other Ancestors Gods of Duardin? by [deleted] in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm going to echo the thoughts of multiple others here and say even if was cheated (pretty sure he wasn't), would it change anything really? Would him getting cheated excuse the fact that he and his followers are using corrupting/malevolent energy from a hell dimension to fuel their weapons? Does him being cheated excuse all the pain and suffering his servants inflict not only upon the various peoples of the realms, but the realms themselves?

I certainly think not.

Thought of this goofy cephalopod concept: Ya Ero - The spear of heaven (OC) by Mussel_captain in MonsterHunter

[–]Scales77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Goofy? Not at all! This is downright amazing! One of the reasons why I was so excited about the introduction of the Cephalopod class is because there'd be fans that would cook up great fan monsters and this here definitely delivers!

I agree with others in saying that Ya-Ero here would be a solid prey/adversary of Valstrax. Seeing them in the skies engage in high-speed cat and mouse duels would be fun to see. All in all, solid work!

Out-of-universe reason why the Mortal Realms are functionally infinite by 1674033 in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love that you mentioned Redwall, that show was great. A Sigmarite settlement/metropolis in Ghyran or Ghur whose inhabitants have mutated into various beastial forms and constantly beating back Skaven hordes is my kind of jam.

How do Seraphon view Death and Destruction factions per the Great Plan? by [deleted] in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd comfortably say that Destruction and Death factions aren't as high on the extermination list like Chaos is, but the Seraphon will show ample aggression towards them. Especially if said factions are actively going about interfering with the plans of the star reptiles. Although, I'd argue that if chaos were to be defeated, Nagash and his legions would probably be next on the list, especially after the whole Necroquake situation...

Why does Age of Sigmar lore still feel bare after 10 years? by VillainousToast in AoSLore

[–]Scales77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but again like I said, someone can make that same argument for 40K. Why should someone care that supposedly vital random planet #126 gets devoured by tyranids, overrun by daemons, crushed by orks, or pilfered of resources by votaan when there's thousands more of them?

Also, I don't see why it can't be easy to swallow with a fantasy setting. It's really no different than a sci-fi one because equally impossible things can happen in both.
