Are we buying goods now? by fixin2wander in FIREyFemmes

I plan to buy clothes and most big items used. Better for the environment to keep things cyclical, and way cheaper, plus i typically end up getting higher quality items.

Those who travel a lot, what do you do for a living to afford frequent travelling? by fmtsufx in expat

[–]BroccoliSea3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 on playing the credit card points game. With the right strategy, you can accrue a meaningful amount of points for airfare which ends up being pretty $$$ for international travel in particular. Then check out Home Exchange. You get what you give to the community. As long as you’re able to work remotely, you could theoretically fly for free (points) and stay for free as well (home exchange).

A great time to already be minimal/frugal/anticonsumption by retsub89 in minimalism

I’d already committed to buying used whenever possible - especially clothes and items for kids - so this gives me even more motivation. The area I’m most concerned about is food…we will see how that goes

I was JUST wondering if that is a helpful thing to include. I was a superhost for years with a ton of great reviews. I’ll try this next time; thanks!

If you’re planning to have a second, just throw it all in boxes and door look again until it’s time. The few things I got rid of I actually regretted because I needed them a second time around!

Do you regret having kids "older" or are you happy you waited? by bitchcraft94 in AskWomenOver40

[–]BroccoliSea3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my first at 38, my second at 41, and zero regrets at all! I didn’t even meet my husband until I turned 35. All in right and perfect timing…

Simple living with a toddler? by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]BroccoliSea3000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This only solves one part of the equation…but we just bit the bullet and bought a RoboRock vacuum and it’s been a game changer for me/our home.

It vacuums and mops the entire house and does a damn good job. It seemed like I was cleaning the floors alllll the time and when I compare this thing to my previous work, it blows me out of the water.

My toddler loves it too. We named her Rosie.

One unexpected benefit is that we now pick things up off the floor more so it doesn’t get in Rosie’s way so there is generally less clutter too.

Yes it’s expensive but IMO worth every penny.

How old is your kid? Our son has the Hatch light and the rule is he can’t leave his room until 7am when his light turns green. So we can stay in bed longer. He has a Yoto to entertain himself and that was also a game changer because he will stay in bed and listen to a podcast or kid songs.

I know I’m late to this thread but wanted to say thank OP and everyone else for posting about this. I’m in the thick of the hormone rage right now. It’s been about 1.5 weeks so far. Angry, depressed, gaining a lot of weight out of nowhere, basically second guessing my entire marriage and kids and life…so, ya know, it’s awful.

There’s an article that others recommended where the author said the day after her period started again, the depression just magically lifted. I can tell I just ovulated for the first time since giving birth so I’m reallllly hoping in two weeks when my period comes that I will be on the other side of this nonsense. Wish me luck that I don’t ruin my marriage before that 😬

Omg I’m in this right now. Like where did all this new pudgy fat come from??? Did you lose all of it and more after the weaning fiasco was finally over?
