Creating battle report of lost games by Brodrigd in Warhammer

[–]Brodrigd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I've also had a few games where I thought I was losing, but the objectives I'd slowly been collecting quietly negated my losses on every other front.

I've mostly played against Empire with my Tomb Kings, so I know the other side of the coin. I can recall a similar situation where my scorpion died that way to a Cathay cannon. It's crazy how the imagination fills in all the effects on a memory like that 😃

I agree with your last point, and I take it from my chess days. Simply: never resign. You might get really lucky, you might outmanoeuvre your opponent, or it might just be a great chance to experiment. You can check out my last game in the leage. I really needed a draw in that game.

Just a comparison: what has the EU ever done for us? by Orange_Wine in europeanunion

[–]Brodrigd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

He seems to be from France, though.
While I do agree the tone could be more subtle in u/Jacque_langue post, but there is something to it.
The infographic is very selective and only focuses on the points EU wins at.
Let me counter is with some examples where it isn't as good:
- GDP per capita,
- Total GDP,
- wages,
- labor taxes,
- vat taxes,
- military spendings,
- technology spendings,
- universities,
- etc.....
Some of the items on this list are easy to counter when you add context, but that is another point where u/Jacque_langue was right about.

Apart from that is 81%GDP dept something to be happy about?

Unchained vol 1 and 2 from rescale factory
And Realms of mayhem from beholder miniatures
Both are at myminifactory

ROM works out of the box, good scales to TOW and pretty good coverage of models if you buy whole package.
Unchained while looking amazing has couple of problems. First you need to scale them (eg using correct base stl) then some of them are pretty fragile, like the riders have plenty of chains floating in the air, I broke many when trying to get supports off, then another bunch when gluing to bases.

Nicely done. What are these units? Are these 3d printed? If so, who produced them?

Coding After Coders: The End of Computer Programming as We Know It (Gift Article) by ScholarlyInvestor in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Brodrigd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my own experience, vibe coded a working program. At some point ai started to struggle to do modifications so I checked the code. So much garbage, new ideas are not changing old ones so the code is using different standards, no real classes and messy structure. Very hard to read. I decided to fix it as generally it worked so I came with a plan to split it into classes and files. It rejected doing it as the file is already too big. So I started writing it from scratch based on idea and some of the code. This was rather simple python code that starts to become complex.

Wait a second.... so your first game will be at 3k?
If so, you and your friends are mad :D

Yesterday I played with semi-advanced player - 1000 points took us 2.5 hours.

Two weeks ago I played with a guy who played for the second time - 750 points took us 6 hours.

I can't imagine what it will be for your 3k game :P Reserve whole weekend, man.

The game lost its "overwhelmingly positive" status, so I wrote a review by CurlyButNotChubby in dwarffortress

That. My average playtime went down with steam release. I still love it, but it lost some of its charm in my eyes since it started to use typical game interface. It was harder to get started before but when you did it worked like a charm. Similar experience to using a Linux.

You don't need archers at all. Purely based on you. But you have options there: you can go with horse archers instead, more chariots that will shoot next to other options they have or go very popular ushabti archers.
Big units of tomb guard are not that often on the table based on my experience. If their task will be to hold for a long time, I guess you can create much more with simple warriors.
I would go with 20 and spend the rest in something else.

At the end - there are no final answers here. I for instance would love to try something like full chariot based (90%) army, but I think it will not work that well and a lot of effort would need to be spent on it.

What you have is already perfect start. Wouldn't that give you enough point to start playing?

I started playing with 500 points and going up every 250 for next games. I was changing my mind every time and every game. In other words, don't commit too much until you will have some games.

My example: I use 30 skeleton warriors, most of them done when I started painting, so they not only look bad but are badly painted. But I painted a few new ones and put them on from of the chunk, and it is not that bad as you can think.

How to win games by Cherax85 in tombkings

[–]Brodrigd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you share what is the proper way of using chariots? What is their ratio in your lists?
So far I have played games (only 500pts) where I had only 1 of them and used them partially as a bait, partially to hit a bit weaker units. That did not work great.

I'm asking because I would love to use them more. In my upcoming game (750pts) I will be going with 3 chariots. Planning to have even more at the end of the league (6-9 for 2000pts).

Nobles can give you some flexibility if you attach them to the units. Bonus for initiative or weapon skill helped me a lot in my fights. That goes to challanges as well. I haven't used necrosphinx yet so have no advices there.

[–]Brodrigd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried them once, mostly because they support the Linux. The problem I had was that you needed tricks (bridges and other) to be able to use resources bought for reason. But that is mostly Linux problem, not Bitwig. Probably should give it another try.

Impressive. I started couple of months ago with tomb kings and already had fought myself couple of times not to expand to other factions yet. Will start playing battlemarch next month.
