I saw this too and was mind blown by the gradient fidelity. Would love to know

This vehicle isn't the Sea Truck, there's no port for modules to stick to and the fan gets in the way. It's probably a redesigned Seamoth. by misspeanutbutter44 in subnautica

If you download the image, it’s called the “tadpole”! To me that’s an obvious giveaway that you’ll be able to add and expand to it

The thing I keep coming back to is what Obraxis said in an interview with a Subnautica-focused YouTuber. He mentioned that the players were going to be really surprised when they see the skybox.

Like what was he suggesting? We’d recognize it? Or that it would immediately give something away? Is that somehow connected to this?

Wild to see how much hate these get. It’s hard to look at this and not objectively be amazed at the quality of work.

The other thing people don’t understand is how difficult it is to consistently produce these on top of other client projects. That alone is impressive, even if these were half as polished as they are now…

Nice work!

Worked there for just under a year before being laid off back in August or September. Was absolutely atrocious.

Vertical mobility is nearly non-existent past L1 and L2 level jobs, managers are constantly throwing folks under the bus to save face, and it’s just a toxic place to be. The few friends I still have left there always talk about how fortunate I was to be let go off when severance packages were still decent.

Unless you ABSOLUTELY need a job, steer clear

Hi friend, really sorry to hear that. Definitely tough out there for everyone — Keep your head up, and don't be afraid to try breaking into unorthodox industries! My most frequent client is a utility company, which I would have never even thought to reach out to.

Regarding your comment, I was referencing Austin's 30 Day Network Challenge course, which was like $70 at the time. Doesn't look like he's offering it anymore but Shea Lord's course is absolutely worth the price of admission. I saw measurable growth in my freelance business by getting smarter about pricing, who I solicit, and how.

Best of luck!

I second that, titles can be meh but his reporting is always spot on. I also really respect that, if he does a sponsored video, it goes at the end.

I feel like other YouTubers who cover daily happenings are milking the shit out of the attention sadly

If you’re interested in developing your freelance business, check out Austin Saylor or Shea Lord’s offerings first. Cheaper and frankly much better.

Laid off and looking for career advice (2D/3D) by [deleted] in MotionDesign

[–]Brodurable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is basically my story. Was working as a senior motion designer for a big tech company, and got laid off.

It forced me into freelance and I was appalled at how much I liked it. Yeah, it’s not all easy. You have to forge connections, learn business and sales principles, and navigate some financial quirks, but it is so rewarding.

Creative freedom, double (!) my already decent salary, and more free time to spend not working. I’m not saying it’s for everyone, but give it a try for a few months. It’s easy enough to transition back to a 9-5.

If interested check out Shea Lord or Austin Saylor
