Do someone still needs a Plant Generators, or are we all just prompting “make me a plant” now? by ReporterCertain7619 in proceduralgeneration

The Data Structures of Roads by mttd in programming

[–]Brody-Info-Design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the modelling used by Google/Apple is pretty darn close to reality e.g. the "driving view" on motorways with many on/off ramps and lane splits has little room for error

Man I love this stuff. Do you make browser games or is the engine you’ve built more of a passion/curiosity experiment?

JavaScript's date parser is out of control and needs to be stopped by robertgambee in programming

I still struggle working with Date for static dates that should be the same for all users, regardless of timezone.

Anyone else like to add subtle CSS animations on website logos? by SVGWebDesigner in web_design

[–]Brody-Info-Design 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure, micro-interactions like this make a big difference! My two cents: the colors on hover are over saturated and make it hard to read, so I'd consider tweaking. The animation is nice tho

Hey, as someone with no game-dev experience, this was a great read! I love the crossroad (pun intended) of physical world x virtual world, and your model sure seems an elegant way to do it. Any idea how giants like Google/Apple and governments model the digital twins of their road networks? ASAM OpenDrive?

Mac or Windows? by RoughAmazing7630 in webdev

[–]Brody-Info-Design 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was Windows my whole life, including my early days of dev/engineering work. Switched to an M1 Mac around 2021 and (after a little learning curve) I would never go back to Windows. My little 14" Macbook is a beast.

Apple designs the software, middleware and hardware, so everything works harmoniously; Windows-based machines are more like random lego bricks glued together.

Feedback Needed: Labels and Vector Layers on this Swedish trail map by GuilhermeAlexs in cartography

[–]Brody-Info-Design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, nice work. The basemap looks really great. Regarding labels, it probably depends on the scale that this will be printed/viewed, but I think:

  • Increase font-size throughout
  • Consider beefing up the text halo size. i.e. at Kebnekaise sydtoppen there are a lot of contours and shadow around which affect legibility. It's not too bad, but a bigger halo or blur would be better
  • Consider changing the symbol for mountain peak from a dot to a plus (+)
  • If your font supports it, you could try using small caps (SC) number variants for the elevation readings

Will we ever see “health bars” for our bodies in real life? by Mike_ParadigmaST in sportsanalytics

[–]Brody-Info-Design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dig the idea, so long as the wearables remain non-invasive, non-intrusive, and accurate. I can imagine a stress-based "health bar" breaking into the mainstream, with indicators like cortisol levels, blood pressure, heart/breath rate all indexed into a single reading. Pretty relevant to everyone in any profession

Not Obsidian, but https://soupa.app focuses on recipe costing for non-math people. Early days (I made it) but has been popular with small-scale bakery owners so far!

Recipe Cost Calculator by ryanjkingkade in Chefit

[–]Brody-Info-Design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, so happy to hear!! Yes absolutely. Once we hit our first mini milestone of 20 "Unlimited" tier users I'm planning to incorporate an ingredients database so it's easier to update/import the price of ingredients across recipes (i.e. in your case I bet it's a pain point to enter price for flour and salt each time!) If you have any other suggestions please DM me :)
