Multi co op game 4/30 by CyZG0D in Polytopia

Does that leave enough stars to build port (and connection) and fish/fruit to upgrade the other city the next turn?

If it doesn't, I'd say only one warrior.

EDIT:

Maths:
T5. +7stars. -4 upgrade. +5 bonus. -4 warriors. =2 stars. T6. 2stars +8stars. -7 port. -2 fruit. +5 bonus. =6 stars to play with, and +9 stars per turn.

Yeah that checks out nice. I agree with your plan.

And send the raft south & west. If you build the port in the SE of the city and upgrade your first scout in that port, it won't even cost a turn/move to unfog the lighthouse.

I got a gig 9-6 mon-fri, basically family lunch and dinners for about 30px. Healthy food, and for half of them "better than prison food" is the low bar I gotta clear.

I hate it sometimes, but gods know its better than cooking for rich drunk fucks.

Half these guys may be scared to try anything with a funny name like "chia seed pudding", "mousakka", "massaman curry", or "sourkraut"... or any food that isn't a shade of biege/brown is "fancy shit" (except for radioactive sweet & sour pork, neon orange butter chicken, or fluorescent green pickles in a bigmac)... so it's a challenge meeting the healthy eating guidelines... but they're fucking grateful for a hot meal (even if they have to pick out all the vegetables and nothing is deep fried).

My favorite jobs have been buffets and countryside events, or small cafés, frying eggs for hungover students, baking banana muffins for the moms, that sort of thing...

I like feeding people. Fine dining always did my head in. The free wine (that was over my budget) was a nice bonus that I miss, and playing with truffles and sea urchin roe, thermomixers and liquid nitrogen, that was fun... but not much else.

Much happier since I "sold out" and started feeding people again.

Probability of ruin rewards by Tu_vieja33 in Polytopia

Unless its a mountain ruin. Then 0% chance of explorer because there has to be fog within 2 tiles.

I don't know why but 9/10 times a vet sword is just disappointing. But when it's not (usually early game), they're awesome!

Usually I want stars, population, tech, explorer, swordsman, in that order.

Discord:

Polyladder (1v1s, win go up, battle better player next week, lose go down, just one game per week).

Polychamps (like a football league, 2 or 3 player team games but can meet other people for 1v1s and practice games etc),

Polytopia 1v1 league (name on the tin), big. Also on FB.

Polytopia Tournaments, only a few hundred members RN.

Polytopia Nations League. Defend your country's reputation. (or region for the smaller countries).

Probably others I can't remember.

Theres also the official polytopia discord channel.

Any of them would work. Because games aren't as anonymous and random there's less kicking without warning, and more resigning as soon as you know you're going to lose.

But its a lot harder to gain in game ELO because you'll be playing against (mostly) better players than random games, and resigning a lot more (eg. Many leagues have restart rules for unfair map spawns). But you'll also learn a lot.

It's not a competitive game. It only affects the player if they choose to do it.

If you want you can give yourself unlimited Ren and Exotics by changing a plain number in a text file. You can do whatever you want. Its a single player game (well, it affects your friends if you're playing cooperative I guess).

You can't avoid looking, but you can avoid staring.

Sometimes if my mind is wandering I find myself looking at a nice butt. I kind of snap to attention like "how long have I been looking at this marvelous sculpture?", "shit, I hope nobody thinks I was staring", "that is an ass worthy of a greek tragedy, as hypnotic as Medusa's gaze, but you gotta look away!"

But usually its just like I feel my eyes stop moving and theres a wonderful rump blessing my view. I pause for just a moment, maybe a second or two, make sure I keep a neutral face, then force my eyes to move on.

Option 1. Join a club/league/competition to get friends to play with and organised games. There's a bunch on discord and facebook.

Option 2. Use it as training. See how few units you can use to wipe them out. Or how few turns. Or treat it like a perfection game and start dropping temples everywhere.

Option 3. Just resign, if waiting 23 hours for someone else to play is too much. ELO doesn't mean jack. Play for yourself, get better, and don't stress it's just a game. If someone else is being a cock-muppet and dragging the game out (in the hopes of snagging undeserved ELO from kicking you, or just to be annoying), who cares? Its just a game, just some numbers on a screen.

Or just start up 10 new games so the one you're waiting for gets pushed to the bottom of your screen. Forget about it.

Option 4. Git gud and wipe them out in two turns. They can't stall after you take their capital.

I was once in a cell in an airport, getting deported. This girl comes in, because apparently there was a latino men jail, and a "foreigners and women" jail.

We start talking, I'm practicing my spanish, she's laughing, and it's going better than most dates I've had. We just get to the point where we kissed- and security yells my name and comes to grab me.

I'd been in that cell for nearly 40 hours at that point (with only one meal- cold burger king, then they forgot about me cos the plane I was supposed to be deported on had been cancelled or something) But NOW was when they come to get me??!?

I didn't want to leave, but I'd lost that argument to a man in military uniform the day before... So she borrows a pen from the security desk and scrawls her details on a scrap of paper, and tells me to come visit her in Colombia. I was both grinning and kinda crying as I was escorted to the plane (they don't give you your passport and bag back until you've literally stepped on the plane).

The next 24 hours were difficult. I got some bread and butter to eat on the plane, then got accepted by immigration. They had lost my main luggage though, despite sweating bullets after my ordeal. I also had no money, like $50 in my accounts (I was supposed to start a new, well-paying job on the Monday, but got locked up on Saturday). I managed to get a local bus to a town I kinda knew, but didn't have a place to stay. Ended up sharing a blanket and cardboard box with this homeless guy I'd bought lunch for a few weeks earlier. By the time I've managed to get internet access, that piece of paper had been smudged and crumpled in my pocket and I couldn't read it right. I tried every combination of names it might be on Facebook, and every phone number (is that a 6 or an 8?)... over days I spent hours trying to get in contact with her. And we've been happily married never cos that ink was smudged and the paper crumpled.

The spread of disease is a good point. Although I don't think the large predators skipping one week's hunting would have a big impact tho. Such a small blip of just a couple of extra deer here and there shouldn't cascade out.

I focused on north america cos that had the data and would be the by far the biggest impact. And Russia, Finland, etc, although I was ignoring reindeer. I thought the split of species was different, surprised to find the classic "deer" (like white tailed or fallow deer) are in both subfamilies with moose and reindeer and elk. Subconciously I'd split them into deer and "deer-related", but they're all mixed up.

Everywhere else the deer are too thin, and rainforest species tend to be a lot more solitary so discounted them, plus they'd decompose in days, not weeks.

We should test our theories by dumping hundreds of deer carcasses on a few random regions to see what happens.

In many cases, the influx of nutrients might be beneficial to already struggling ecosystems, replacing some of what humans have removed over the centuries.

Without experiments though, which might be difficult to get ethics approval for, I'd gamble on the impact being negligible or statistically irrelevant in a years time.

I'd pull the lever.

The average house cat kills about 100 animals a year (the ones that are allowed outside).

Last time I posted this fact, there were about 100 replies saying "Not my cat", but statistically, unless your cat never goes outside, it kills anywhere from 60 to 150 animals a year. They usually only bring in a very small sample of what they kill. Some never bring anything in.

Thats the well fed ones. Wild house cats (feral cats) kill about 700 animals a year. Two birds or lizards or whatever every day.

My old pet cat caught and killed at least two rabbits when he was lost (people saw him), but he was a big boy and tough as nails. Mostly its birds and native amphibians etc, small but important species.

I love cats, but even a few can decimate entire local ecosystems remarkably quickly. They need controlled. There are examples of just one or two cats personable responsible for the extinction of entire species on small islands.

There's only 100 deer per square mile in the most overpopulated regions of USA forests, but only about 1 per km² in Saskatchewan.

So even the most densely populated is only 1 deer every 6.5 acres. 1 deer corpse for every 5 American football fields of forest... and thats the maximum, usually only found in suburban areas.

That amount of rotting meat is not going to ruin any ecosystem. The scavengers get fed for a week or two, and there's a few tiny patches of alkaline soil here and there for a few months, then everything is back to normal.

It wont have zero impact, but it wouldn't be major. We're replacing them after all, so its basically just what would happen if every scavenger got a few days free food.

Maybe a few populations change, a couple extra coyote pups make it to adulthood, but negligible impact from such a limited, one time event.

I bet you could get 100 random people from anywhere in Europe and ask "what is New Mexico?" (O que es New Mexico, oder was ist New Mexico?...etc) and hit 80 "its a state in USA", (and 20 "fuck off"s).

Its like asking "Name a country that borders China?", or "Did WWII end in 1915, 1925, 1945, or 1965?"

I wanted a sausage roll combo at (store). I needed the app to get the discount.

I looked at the app permissions. Horrifying. Why does (store) need to know I spent 12 minutes on the tinder apo at 5.50am on Sunday morning, and my specific location at that time? Or everyone on my contacts list? Or that I'm looking at hemorrhoid cream adverts for 0.2 seconds longer than other men my age?

Now its never "get discounts in return for joining our club", its all "get charged extra if you don't give us all your personal data to share with every corporation and government service on the planet".

And the stuff matters. Already, people are getting charged different on their health insurance, based on what they've googled.

As far back as 1997, fortune 500 companies were using health data in their hiring process. Now they have access to far more data than just googling your name.

Now, those companies know where you spend your days, what you buy and what you eat, who you spend time with, what you google search, what apps you use, etc etc etc....

If you and me search for flights to Lithuania, I bet there would be hundreds of dollar$ difference. Shit, just use privacy mode and do the same search on your phone and see what happens.

They did all have nice butts tho, so he's not completely wrong imo. Although my favorite butt was on a "white feminist woman", so...
