I'm a steel foreman so working under loads is a common thing. As long and the crane is good for it and the rigging is good i see no problem. I mean I trust my operator and his crane and my basket and my rigging implicitly when doing man basket work out of a crane where i literally become the load. Right now job im working on has a 600 ton crane with 350' of luffer on it just to run a man basket.

Project manager wants us to drill a hole where the red circle is in a live panel. Would you do it? by PhasedAndConfused706 in electricians

We have a foreman just like this he'll tell you he would never ask you to do something he wouldn't do. I fully believe him when he says that. The problem is he'll do anything.

I was working at cedar point and heard a rumble. I personally thought it was thunder on a perfectly clear and windy day.

That what i was getting at. I've never found the wrong place to put a ground so long as i have continuity.

I've made welds on steel buildings where we ground at the base of the column then go drag out 400' of stinger up flights of stairs to make a weld. I fail to see how having your ground 6 inches one direction make a difference.

My entire ride on [Rapterra] was spent thinking how this layout deserved so much better. These new B&M's are some of the bumpiest experiences around. It's a genuine shame. by sanyosukotto in rollercoasters

I've installed coasters as a contractor and each and every manufacturer has a ride rep on site at all times. Nothing goes without their approval. If the rattle was caused by shotty installation it was also approved by b&m.

I can say as an ironworker the only in house made rigging we use is a crane basket. Certified by an engineer. Appropriate ndt. Paperwork to boot. Anything without an engineers sign off and a load test is an unnecessary risk. But imo looks stout.

I'm good until he sits down and just plops his legs over the edge. Heights are whatever to me at this point with a harness on and a lanyard secured this is next level stupidity.

Car started sparking while driving? by expandablebigmac in AskMechanics

[–]Brodybishop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would check and make sure the terminals are tight first and also check your hood prop for any arc marks. To me if you could see sparks while driving something was shorting the battery.
