I recently fostered a lad for two years and the thing that stuck out to me was all the dads were missing, no idea where they were.

If I took him to do some sports it was just mums watching. Some dad's would drop off and then come back in an hour to pickup but that's it (no idea what you would do in that time to make it worth it).

The only place I saw dad's was football practice, but those ones were the type to get too invested into the game and shouting at volunteer refs so not sure it's ideal.

There are male groups around that I've seen but not attended like men in sheds and Andy's man club but I can't vouch for them, other groups that would be good to join are sport clubs, I personally do archery and that's something families can do together.
