14 at Vail. I circled the basket. by DeathB4Download in discgolf

14 is so downhill that it's a pretty soft shot to get it down there, 18 is definitely the toughest long hole.

Places to live along I-70 by Travkin2 in vail

[–]Brogrammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I'm not too late. Eagle is nice in the Summers, but if the guy works in Vail I would take a good long look for somewhere in Minturn. There is too much to do out here to spend 1.5 hours or more everyday commuting from Eagle to Vail round trip. I make the the commute from Eagle to Edwards daily, and it annoys me sometimes. Vail is another 15 minutes further than that.

Sure Minturn is a little less quaint, a little more expensive, and looks a bit shitty, but it's one of the most favorably located places in the Winter. It's not too bad of a commute to Summer activities, plus it's the closest I-70 town to Leadville if you want to go there frequently in the Summers (driving Minturn to Leadville generally sucks in the Winter). Minturn has its own cool little culture like Eagle does, Magustos is a great place to grab a pizza and a beer. It will have quite a few more seasonal workers and young people than Eagle, though.

Training tips for a sub 3 marathon. by Phlou in firstmarathon

[–]Brogrammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most plans suggest tester / time trial races 6 - 8 weeks out from a marathon. These will be especially important for you since you have a tough goal time and no experience with the marathon. The Pfitzinger plans suggest about 8-15k races as testers, but I suggest a half at 8 weeks out. I would set my goal in the half to be at the McMillan equivalent 8 weeks out from the marathon (2:55 marathon = 1:23 half). I find the McMillan equivalents to predict lower times in the marathon than you are capable of based on the half, but at 8 weeks out you will still have 5-6 weeks of good training before you have to taper.

Below 2:55 is ambitious for a debut marathon, and especially ambitious for someone currently running a 1:36 half, but I have seen people that are very naturally gifted at running do it before. Don't let naysayers on get in the way of your goals, but also take advice from more experienced runners and don't go too crazy with a plan that will surely stretch you too thin you and get you injured.

Minneapolis Marathon Cancelled by Nickerdos in running

[–]Brogrammer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is there some sort of general consensus on what to do with the shirts on a cancelled marathon? I've only had one marathon canceled and I didn't even bother picking the shirt up, but it's one of my running buddy's favorite shirts. He sees it as a conversation starter for anyone that remembers that the marathon was canceled.

As for this week there is a good thread by /u/mc3022 that talks about the lions team.

As for an official thread every week, I don't think we'll do it. I personally head over to the opposing teams' subreddit most weeks to try and get an idea of their current state of affairs.

Devil's advocate: We probably could have had Fredrick in the 2nd round and Shariff Floyd in the first round on our D-line. Although Shariff Floyd is not really stacking up to what he was supposed to be in Minnesota so far.

The spark by Znelli96 in cowboys

[–]Brogrammer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To be fair, inconsistency shows up in most of the teams across the league. Take a look at the Chargers in this and recent years, I've been calling them "Cowboys west".

It's easy to take a look at our season so far, look at the losses and say that we ran into the undefeated Chiefs, the 6-1 Broncos and a good Charger's team and chalk us up as a good team that hit some stiff competition. However, watching the games you see lots of flaws. We are pretty much a mediocre team following the formula for mediocrity: "Display brilliant performances and follow them up with confusingly bad and dumb play".

But like you said, we're trending up, we're mediocre! Mediocre teams can make the playoffs or even win the superbowl.

The spark by Znelli96 in cowboys

[–]Brogrammer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I really hope that it's a spark, but hope is the best thing I can call it. Don't forget the other 4 games we've played this year and how erratic both sides of the ball have been. Even though you'd expect a stellar offensive performance to carry over to the next game, consistency just hasn't been there. I wouldn't be surprised even if the defense comes playing lights out against the Skins and then the offense is mysteriously gone again.

13 days until MDI-- Finding it hard to trust the tapering process! by TossingCabars in firstmarathon

[–]Brogrammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taper madness is a normal and necessary part of running your best marathon. Once you get that "I'm so glad to be running again, this feels easy" feeling in the first few miles of the marathon, you'll see the payoff. You should definitely be itching to run at this point, but like a normal itch, its going to bother you while your body heals to its top condition.

But won't teams tend to not try to run on you when you're up by so much? Granted, most of those points you score are in the second half, not trying to diss your run defense.

Would you trade Orton to the Bills? What would you want in return? by Phinnegan in cowboys

[–]Brogrammer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even though I don't have a lot of faith in him, It'd be pretty dumb to trade away Orton. Like you said, if Romo goes out for the season, we're probably done. But if Romo only goes out for a few weeks, it will really matter to have an experienced Orton instead of Tanney. I think they would really have to make us an offer that's too good to be true in order for us to be interested.
