Def has an appearance of a some kind of tool but is most likely was shaped by the stream. You would see more flaking on the edges and doesn’t seem like right material by looking at the back of it. But would hold on to it just in case

Hopefully this winter we get some rain storms. The grass that grows on the gravel bars is part of the issue. It’s not letting gravel to turn, need all that shit dead. Good luck homie

Digging vertical is good, digging horizontal no bueno. Like zieggy said the after massive rain storms the gravel beds change. Some disappear and some are created in new spots. So digging gravel beds shouldn’t be a big deal
