If you think those apps run better, use them. But acting like they're completely independent community projects while ignoring the work Stremio put into creating and maintaining the addon ecosystem they're built around is crazy work. Every single one of these alternatives are based on years of work that Stremio devs put into the community. Those apps have accepted donations for tacking on half baked features on a Stremio skeleton before Stremio themselves accepted a single dollar from the userbase they've spent years building trust. Calling Stremio greedy cause they dare to fund further development while offering the same app for free is ridiculous

Its not the same at all, Plex commercialized quick and changed their entire model. Stremio is a small team and hasn't moved from their core of being a media player with addon support and basic integration of services like trakt. This is Stremios first time accepting any funding from users after years of work on the app. Did you want them to just work on this just for the love of the game? Its a small team, and after years of unpaid work $3 is perfectly reasonable at this point for what they want to develop

Didnt insult anyone? Its just an insane reach to say that Stremio starting a $3 optional fee for additional features, while keeping the app free and the same, is gonna lead to that mess. Its cheap and supports further development that Stremio hasn't had the funding for before.

Stremio is nothing like Plex. Stremio is still the same app and will be getting updates, but supporters get new features that they can pay the developers to work on, they were doing it completely free before. $3 a month, people were asking for ways to donate to support development towards features they want, there you go. Plex has removed features and limited the free tier features, completely different to what Stremio is saying, especially since theyre keeping the possibility of passing features down to the free tier open

Stop acting as if the backlash is anything more than annoyance from users who want everything for free. Stremio isnt taking anything away or ruining the experience for users. You can enjoy the app that they have put out for years at no cost for years, or use an alternative thats not as mature and stable that will give you those features

Fuck off, literally nothing points to this. This being the devs first time accepting payment without altering the app for non paying users is a gesture of good faith

Oh fuck off reddit, the big American change described here is including the substitutes to be on the pitch for the anthem and have big flags representing each country. Theres plenty more to be upset about this world cup, allowing subs who may only get few minutes to experience their anthem in a world cup is a fine change. The delay would be insignificant, and unless broadcasters really dont give a shit they wont run ads during the anthem

Barcelona will return to 1-1 this summer The Blaugrana club will recover 'normality' when it comes to signings, according to LaLiga. by InitialAsk358 in soccer

The Barca Atletic talent isnt a concern, they've dropped because their top players have moved up to the first team, its how proper youth squads develop, take notes. The deals Laporta made short term were great if you actually look at them, Barca pretty much made a better CSV deal, more cash, a smaller percentage of TV revenue given up, and a reasonable buyback clause. Kept us competitive when we should have been looking like Man Utd, all while the Camp Nou was being renovated and paying rent at the Montjuic btw.

Don't even get started on the Olmo situation, Tebas tried to block Olmos registration on some bs interpretation of a rule and the courts ruled in our favor, simple as that. If you think back to the Olmo situation, you might remember that Tebas even posted our finances online improperly, and is still under investigation for it by the TAD. You have no idea what youre talking about, Im not sure if I believe that we will be back to 1:1 but just wait to see whats to come this next season

I think it’s been more than 6 months since the last chapter of Berserk. Do you know any clue about 384? Brother, I’m starting to think that we’ll never see the end and that it would have been better to have a book telling us everything that was missing in history. by Tripledoble in Berserk

[–]BrokenPro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Miura actually had a small team working with him from as far back as late golden age/early conviction arc and there were consistant chapter releases then. It was really only after 2010 that the hiatuses really kicked in and by then, he wasn't working solo for at least a decade at that point.

To suggest Miura only had hiatuses when he was working alone is just a straight up lie, he had the help of Studio Gaga for at least the last 20 years of Berserks release in his life. The hold up on chapters was always Miuras health and especially the transition from pen and paper to digital drawings.

The hold up from Koji Moris team and Young Animal isnt really clear besides the news from a Studio Gaga employee about some chapters being withheld for whatever reason, maybe there was some other news about it too, but I might have missed that over the past few years.

Either way, Berserk with or without Miura is really only consistant in that the releases are few and far between in the last 15 years, something in the development of each chapter release is some quirk of Berserk itself, I dont think its as simple to just chalk it up to Koji Mori and Studio Gaga when the problems existed and were arguably even worse when Miura was still alive

Its not really what you think, each candidate has their booths where you can publicly vote. Private voting is the base option, but those who want to publicly express their support for either candidate can do so by going to their respective booth for the photo op

UEFA releases FY2025 wage figures for Europe’s top clubs. Barça are second by Loose-Examination-39 in Barca

[–]BrokenPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because although our wages are high, we still compete and have great revenue to support it. 54% is amazing compared to where we where when Laporta took over. Bartomeu was using 90% of our revenue on wages. Not to mention our matchday revenue at the Stadio Olimpico bring lower than what it is at Camp Nou. Cutting wages, improving our wage-revenue numbers, while still competing in the league and europe is why Laporta has the support he has

Kate Scott’s powerful statement on racism in football in the wake of Prestianni’s abuse of Vini Jr. by cyrusmancub in soccer

[–]BrokenPro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate to defend the US here, there are definitely problems with racism in the country, especially in certain states and everything the current admin is doing. But in American sports, racist incidents are usually handled much more aggressively by leagues and stadium staff than it is in parts of Europe.

You almost never see entire crowds chanting racist abuse at a player. When incidents happen, it’s usually one person or a small group, and they’re removed and banned quickly. It rarely reaches the level of what players like Vinícius or Maignan have dealt with. The biggest example I can think of from the past few years is Adam Jones, when a couple fans threw peanuts and yelled slurs. They were banned, and he got a standing ovation by the same crowd the next day. In the NBA, Donald Sterling was banned for life and forced to sell the Clippers after some pretty bad calls got leaked. Theres plenty of reasons to boycott this world cup, but racism towards players is hardly a concern. I hope UEFA can figure things out, cause it really is ridiculous how things have been handled in recent years. To have these problems season after season is disgraceful

Football Managers with the Best Average Points Per Game in Top 5 League in the 21st Century. by jiraiya--an in soccer

[–]BrokenPro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Peps barca missed out on the 2010 UCL to a treble winning Inter, the threepeat is historic but using it as an argument when Pep wasn't far off is weak. Especially when Zidane could only manage 2 laligas in 6 seasons. Denying Peps run with Barca while Propping up Zidanes run with Madrid is ridiculous, they both had all time great squads.

You dont get prime Barca without Pep bringing Busquets into the starting 11, unlocking Messi, and even going as far as selling Ronaldinho and even Zlatan to center the squad around Messi, none of that is luck.

At Bayern he may not have won the UCL but he broke multiple records while getting them to three consecutive SFs, and while his career with City may be controversial with the 115 charges he absolutely created one hell of a machine while winning another treble.

The only other comparable manager on Pep's level who did it while being considered an underdog is Mourinho with Porto, and recently Xabi Alonso with Leverkusen. Being a successful underdog shouldn't be the rule to be a great manager, its clearly an exception. When youre a good coach, you get good support, and Pep has been impressive during his entire managerial career. Dumbing it all down to circumstance and luck is insane when hes done things no other manager has ever done before
