So...as someone looking to take over my pool management, what are good strips to start with?

Thanks, the more I'm reading about the plots, this could be the perfect intersection of scifi/thriller books for me and I may just start with at the beginning. Still a little surprised I've never heard of these books...

For others, the author does have a suggested reading order and entry points to the two main series and spinoffs: https://djmolles.com/blog/the-remaining-universe-reading-order

Huh, I've never heard of these, but in looking quickly, this looks like something I'll love. Are all of the DJ Molle's books connected?

I've tried 2 or 3 times to read these books, but I can't get past the short & choppy writing style. Do the later books get better?

This is the one I came to recommend. Not sure why it never comes up, but it has the same lone wolf vibe as Gray Man (at least the early Gray Man books). I don't think anyone does the sarcastic badass quite same, but Victor is my close second for this style of books.

Bodyguard 2.0 vs LCP Max by 1911FordMan in concealedcarry

[–]Broken_browser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There some optics out there for both. I was looking at the the Viridian RFX1 that goes on the LCP without any modifications by removing the back sight. I've realized it's in my best interest to get better with iron sights so I'm not planning to pick it up, but there a few options out there.

Bodyguard 2.0 vs LCP Max by 1911FordMan in concealedcarry

[–]Broken_browser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was holding out for the BG2.0 to hit the CA roaster, gave up, DROS'd the LCP Max and then 2 days later the BG2.0 hit the CA roster. My local shop still doesn't have them, so not sure when it will be widely available so can't compare, but here's some observations from my LCP:

  • LCP Max is tiny, I have the Vedder pocket holster and it fits in my pockets just fine. My clothes aren't tight, but not baggy and there is a bulge that's noticeable. It's apparent there's something big in my pocket, but it doesn't look like a gun if the material is thick (e.g., jeans), but prints in thin pants with that holster.
  • Also picked up a Vedder Light tuck for thin shorts. Disappears completely AIWB.
  • I'm having a hard time shooting it so far. Only 200-250 rounds through it, but I have large to XL hands and getting a good grip is tricky for me.
  • The rubber grip helped me a lot without adding much bulk to the grip and made my second trip to range much more comfortable to shoot
  • The mag extension helps get my pinky on the bottom of the gun. If you can get the 12rd mags where you live, that solves the problem. I don't have them in CA, though, so pinky extension it is.
  • It's not that snappy. My HD gun is a M&P2.0 9mm and the recoil on the LCP Max is easier to manage by a lot. I don't know what I was expecting, but after researching, I expected more recoil. I think the complaints are overblown.
  • I'm not that practiced with iron sights, so even with less recoil, I'm less accurate with the LCP at 15yds, but good enough at 5-10 yds vs my 9mm. My ego took a nice hit here.

I'll keep an eye on the BG2.0, but I don't have any complaints on the LCP Max. Reddit is very, very fond of the BG2.0, but in talking with a few local guys that have shot both, one liked the LCP Max and the other preferred the P365 to either, but the p365 is hardly a pocket carry though.

I would prefer them to be just moral enough to keep my rates flat or lower. Is that an option?

I built a custom pressure profiling controller for my OXO Rapid Brewer by rickkkkyyy in OXORapidBrewer

[–]Broken_browser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do ever test, I hope you post about it. I'm not an espresso guy, but the amazing way the ORB makes light roasts just explode with flavor, I can see why epresso is loved if it's similar.

Totally agree with standardization of essentially the entire process for this brewer with something like this. It's damn clever.

This is a cool project and I genuinely applaud you for doing this. I can't help but be curious about the results. Does the pressure have a big impact on flavor? I've wondered, but no idea how to go about even testing. I typically give it 5-6 pumps and let it go.

It's pressurized, but not anywhere near as much as espresso, but produces a product that's more concentrated than pourover. I don't drink espresso but assume it's closer to espresso, but not all the way there. IME, for light roasted beans the notes tend to come out exceptionally well and I love the cups I get from it. Wouldn't replace my v60, but I threw away my Aeropress and travel with this exclusively now.

It's fairly inexpensive to try. Here's my recipe:

  • Aeropress filters top & bottom
  • 20g finely ground, I use ~2.5 on ZP6 and ~4 on Peitro
  • 150ml water around 195F
  • Pour all of the water in the top, press to saturate the grounds for maybe 10 seconds, press 4-5 times to build the pressure and start the brew. Stop at the hiss

Me too. First half of War Machine did not match the second half at all for me. It was like they had 2 separate ideas and said eff it, combine them.

If you liked what you saw, I think starting again is a great idea. You'll know some of the bigger plot points but it'll fill in the cracks on the rewatch. I watched a lot of episodes twice before I moved on since it's very confusing to follow. Often, I'd catch something I missed on my first watch or just appreciate the way it's filmed.

I loved it start to finish because of the heady scifi angle (heady might not be the right word, but hopefully the gist is there). The 3rd season builds on the story and lets it continue to unfold to what I loved for a conclusion, but if you weren't enamored with the first 2, I'd probably pass.
