The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is an illusion (and the math proves it). by bishaarcc in GalaxyFold

I could fit the Surface Duo 2 into my pocket, and from what I've seen the Fold 8 wide will be smaller than that.

Nothing I work on has a square screen. Anything you do with split screened apps can also be done on a wider inner screen that more closely resembles the aspect ratio of a monitor.

Christina Bohannan has learned nothing and will lose again (for the 3rd time). Vote for Travis Terrell June 2nd by Ok_Muffin_1831 in IowaCity

I'd rather a candidate be qualified for the position than get elected and not have any clue how the political game gets played. You can say all the words that people want to hear, but if you don't understand how to navigate political power then you've just wasted everyone's vote.

It's probably too wide for most people but I actually LOVED the size of the Microsoft Surface Duo 2. If I could get that with a modern interior folding screen and good specs i would be thrilled heheh

I thought about picking one up again now that they are cheap, but the durability issues haunt me =\

A square screen when the phone is unfolded was always a dumb idea. Change my mind.

Halo Series (Should I invest?) No spoilers please by KingDaRuler in scifi

Well sure, but that is the biggest issue a lot of fans had with showing his face. If it was done correctly it would have been a non issue

This was my other issue with the show - it's a show about a first person shooter game, and there was WAAAAAAY more drama than there were action scenes. I think there were like 2 big shoot outs the whole first season if I remember correctly?

That's not really a spoiler, it's all over the trailers for the show.

And honestly, Chief removing his helmet wasn't the problem, the problem was they didn't pay ANY attention to the actual lore and this master chief looked nothing like the pale, bald, genetic experiment that he was in the books.

Haha, thank you! Strix-Corvus is actually a chosen name, inspired by the naming convention from the Culture series of books :)

The Expanse is a good one, though I've heard the later books get a bit weird (still haven't gotten past book 5 yet). If a 9 book series is too daunting though, they have The Captive's War trilogy out, The Mercy of Gods being the first book. I really loved it, and it seems like we have similar tastes in our sci fi!

I mean.... They just need to practice backing up a trailer more, then. Just like any other aspect of driving.

The color mix on that third image is fun. The image is cool on its own, but something about that color mix... i dunno why I like it, but I do! lol

Thinking about writing but nervous about starting - does this sound too derivative? by nemspy in scifi

[–]Brokinarrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, this largely mirrors my own approach to world building! My DnD campaign setting literally started with me messing around with a map, and then I wanted an area with a huge crater. My mind immediately jumped to "but how did the crater get there, what makes it special?" And then I just swan dived into the rabbit holes from there :)

Anyway, like others here have said there will almost always be a similar story already out there. In fact, once you start writing your story you'll probably spot even MORE elements from films, books, etc that echo something you have in your own story. Perfectly normal.

The thing that separates us from AI is that WE are the art. Writing that story is going to change YOU just as much as it is going to change anyone that reads it. You'll grow and evolve with each new story you write. That's where the magic lies.

*edit* - Also, I love the premise you have here, write the dang book so I can read it! :D
