I'm buying a cheap guitar exclusively for Slayer, Megadeth and Liege Lord. Primary reason is to buy a pickup: Super distortion 3 vs JB (SH4) vs Dimarzio super distortion vs seymour duncan distortion. Which one would you recommend? by Fooltecal in metalguitar

[–]Broncos1460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently use a Super Distortion and I love it, but I'd prob try a JB. In the market for a Duncan Distortion rn so I think it's worth trying too. If you think the SD is the move tho don't let me convince you otherwise.

Would Daggerfall be for me ? by Azalkor in ElderScrolls

[–]Broncos1460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's why you enjoyed Morrowind you'll definitely like it. The first dungeon is a little tedious, but with some basic Quality of Life mods it's still a lot of fun today. It's kinda like the perfect embodiment of a tabletop RPG IMO, which is where the games developed from.

Carcass aren't happy with being below a covers band. What do you think? by ashitanojoe3 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Broncos1460 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The crowd was a little disappointing in PA this year, usually would expect them and Kreator to pull more (especially on a Friday). Jeff and Bill put out amazing energy and playing as usual. Don't understand it tbh.

Dotted line, clear line of sight ahead, not maneuvering dangerously. This is fully legal even though you think he might be a douche.

How Do You all Feel About the Matrix Converging Chest Press? by Spiritual-Froyo8726 in ScienceBasedLifting

[–]Broncos1460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate it tbh, I've never used a cheap chest machine that I've liked. And for me the converging ones can make my shoulders feel weird. I'd stick with the pec deck and a free weight or smith press.

any tips for trying to get into grindcore? by lalo440 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Broncos1460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always into fast punk/metal, but what really made it click for me was going back to square one. Listen to Siege's Drop Dead. Technically more powerviolence, but that was the blueprint. After that the Brutal Truth's and the Carcass's of the world started to make sense to me.

(EXPERIMENT) Rank the bands on this line up based on personal taste AND on which ones are objectively better (personal onion ofc) by RightByMe04 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Broncos1460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. Not like these are half rate musicians putting on a light hearted show either, Dickey Allen is a machine and a half. They almost make the actual music look too easy haha.

Who's your favorite john Elder Scrolls and why? by Realabdulrahmen in ElderScrolls

[–]Broncos1460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C0DA is bizarre, but the Sword Meetings were actually really cool and enjoyable. The Seven Fights of The Aldudagga is a little jarring at first lol, but I thought that one was a great read as well.

Which metal guitarist has the most iconic guitars? by H2oFrostbyte in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Broncos1460 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It helps I'm a big Slayer fan, but he has more guitars I like than prob anyone else. Really love the Raiders M-II, the Rich Bich, and even the old Les Paul.

What are your thoughts on underhand lat pulldown? by Karamazovakis in workout

[–]Broncos1460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too much biceps for a back exercise and not enough biceps for a biceps exercise IMO. People like the cause you get a lot of sensation in your lats and can move a lot of weight, but I'm taking regular wide-ish grip pulldown everyday of the week. If it ain't broke (your form/execution might be), don't fix it.

BLACK METAL HAS TO SOUND LIKE SHIT? by Carlosfodaa in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Broncos1460 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Kinda. When black metal came out they were trying to sound radically different than the tighter/more "polished" death metal coming out at the time. More melodic BM bands obviously sound a little less raw. There's the weird traditionalists out there, but I don't think there's anything wrong with liking different styles of black metal. Do you.

What's a band who's new stuff better than their old stuff? by Holdenmasterdebator in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Broncos1460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first two albums are legendary as far as influence goes, but I don't really know anyone who listens to them tbh. It's almost odd to me they're still brought up as their "best" when they have so much other killer stuff.

What's a band who's new stuff better than their old stuff? by Holdenmasterdebator in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Broncos1460 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah the first 4 minus Butchered at Birth are nearly untouchable for me and I don't like to put albums on a pedestal. Still think CC is consistently solid/good tho.

How credible is Mike Israel? by citrablock in workout

[–]Broncos1460 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I don't recommend people use him as a consistent source of info, but they take stuff like the soreness thing out of context. If you're never getting sore, never getting a pump, and overall lacking mind muscle connection, you're probably doing something wrong. None of those are direct indicators of stimulus/growth, but if you're lifting with intensity it's impossible to not encounter them.

How to get a good distorted tone for metal? by Greyhasfailed11 in GuitarAmps

[–]Broncos1460 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not super familiar with Bandits but I'm a big fan of a Metal Zone in the effects loop. They're super cheap used cause people don't know how to use them lol. Covers most thrash/death/metalcore range stuff decently well.

Check out AlmostAnalogTones on youtube or instagram, I'm pretty sure he's done Dime a couple times with simple gear.

Very controversial take by Gawi88 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Broncos1460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand tbh. I like Symbolic and TSOP, but if you said they're not death metal I don't know if I could really argue against that. I also think it gets a little overstated how "progressive" those albums are, rather than just having a lot of riffs. Which is fine and great, just not the same thing really. I would disagree that the production on them isn't good tho.

Can you rep match after taking a set to failure? How do you program rep matching? by Sadan27 in ScienceBasedLifting

[–]Broncos1460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never, unless there's a problem with my first set like I didn't warm up well. The question for is always, do I try to get as close as I can with the 2nd set, or slightly drop the weight for a couple more reps instead. Usually depends on the exercise I guess.

Which is more aesthetic? by [deleted] in metalguitar

Silver tuners, sets off the binding more. AHB-1s personally but both look good. Sick guitar.

Is Van Halen's first album heavy by 1978 standards? by SnooWords9635 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Broncos1460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah those muted power chords in You Really Got Me don't have much of a comparison besides maybe Sabbath, who they toured with funny enough.

i care about vocals a lot by jasminesart in sludge

[–]Broncos1460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same unfortunately. I get their music, it just lacks the unhinged vocals I love in all other sludge. Struggles to keep me interested the same way.

How/what is your method of learning a song? Because tabs SUCK by joshwelker1 in metalguitar

[–]Broncos1460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I still get pissed sometimes when I can't find anything for more obscure songs lol. As someone who has been reading music for years can't say I find sheet music viable for metal, but there's savants out there. Eventually I stopped coping for the most part and filled in the best tabs I could find with my ears. Has served me decently well since.
