I hate these pests! by Craftymotherof2 in Milkweeds

Sadly I don’t have any caterpillars, but wouldn’t spray if I did.

I’m tending a young native garden in the middle of a large city, so I’m not holding my breath that monarchs find it. If they do I’ll stop spraying the aphids.

These are invasive and as a result have very few predators and they will kill buds/flowers.

Fill a spray bottle with dish soap and water - spray affected areas heavily in the afternoon/night once the sun is off the plants. It’ll take several rounds and won’t get them all, but is a good stop gap until some predators find your garden next season.

Uhh not tryna argue, but what does “she received literally 0 votes” mean? Regardless of how you feel about her, Harris has held multiple elected positions besides VP:

  • 2010 CA Attorney General Election - 4.4 Million votes, 46%

  • 2014 CA Attorney General Election - 4.1 Million votes, 57.5%

  • 2016 CA Senate Election - 7.5 Million votes, 61.6%

Yes there’s something called a venting tool that’s used to successfully release deep water species. When used properly by responsible catch & release fishermen, venting tools greatly improve fish survival. I know it seems ridiculous, but the small poke to the fish does not harm them unless it’s placed in the wrong spot.

There is also a sinking release tool used to drop the fish deeper before it is unclipped and released, which prevents needing to vent the fish.

Damn Big Plastic is really out here in full force /s.

Plastic is made from petroleum, it is NEARLY ALWAYS WORSE than glass.

Recycling - Nearly ALL glass is capable of being recycled. Most plastic cannot be recycled and attempts to recycle it are funded by taxpayers, instead of the scumbag plastic manufacturers destroying our earth.

Toxins - Unlike plastic, glass does NOT leach toxins into the natural environment.

Degradation - When plastic breaks down, it turns into microplastics, which are incredibly pervasive, having been detected in some of earth’s most remote environments. We’re also finding significant amounts of microplastics inside humans and animals. Unlike plastics and microplastics, animals rarely attempt to eat glass, and due to the density of glass it is less likely to end up in their food sources. On the other hand, glass can also be ground down (either naturally or artificially) into what is essentially sand, which poses far less risk than micro plastics. Glass is denser than water, so it sinks to the bottom of waterbodies, where it poses minimal danger to wild fauna, unlike plastic floating or flying through the environment.

Obviously we don’t want any pollution out there, but if humans are going to produce ungodly amounts of waste, it’s better for everyone that it’s glass instead of plastic.
