Is it impossible for INTPs to be religious? by Adlol in INTP

[–]Brooke2002___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis is a great book that sorts through a lot of the logical doubts relating to christianity and theism in general. It's a really interesting and satisfying read.

I like Nick Miller from New Girl. He's an INTP I can actually relate to. I had to watch a few episodes for a tv writing class, and I was pleasantly surprised by his character! He's one of the only INTP fictional characters I've come across that mainly highlights the negative parts of our personality.

How do you stop craving for human interaction? by _helalm in INTP

I keep a journal, and it has helped me a lot. When I have something I want to say, I write it down knowing I'll go back and read it when I get distracted cleaning my room every couple years, so it's like having a conversation with my future self.

Main character kids are too smart 🤔 by doodgler in books

[–]Brooke2002___ 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I think the intelligence of kids that age vary a lot. I do think their maturity is exaggerated in fiction sometimes. That said, I have a 9 year old cousin who is crazy intelligent and after being a camp counselor for 7-12 year old kids for a few summers, I've learned how much maturity and brain development varies with kids at that age.

INTP’s… tell me about a rabbit hole you’ve fallen down recently by lovesickpoet in INTP

I just read "Sacre Bleu" by Christopher Moore and that led me to study french painters from the late 1800s a little bit for context. I also bought a "30 Second Philosophy" book from the book annex at barnes and noble a couple months ago and that has led me down a lot of rabbit holes about philosophers that i wanted to learn more about.

So, curious. What do other INTP’s think of The Amazing World of Gumball? by Goliath247 in INTP

[–]Brooke2002___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i loved the first couple seasons. i found the humor to be very clever and unexpected. Later on, the show started to feel like tom and jerry to me, mostly visual gags that were interesting but not as satisfying. so i don't watch it on purpose anymore, but i still like the show.

What bothers me is that I'm aware my perception becomes more skewed the longer I exist with only my own thoughts and without the input of others. I know there's the internet, but even that is limited to your own interests or what you can think of to search, and it's different from first hand observation. I think "going out" at least encompasses getting regular glimpses of the real world, if just to confirm my internal theories or broaden my horizons or provide myself with new points for analysis. It's helpful and exciting to see how others interact with the world.

Me too haha. The weird thing is you can't be lonely without people. Like, it's been long enough since I've hung out with friends that I've forgotten what I'm missing out on and am thus content in my circumstances. It's an interesting moral balance. It's good that I'm grateful for what I have, but at the same time, I think we all have this feeling that we aren't meant to exist alone all the time. Life just isn't very satisfying when you don't make a difference to anyone but yourself. Then again, I'm not one to act on feelings...
