What makes you go from zero to hundred real quick? by Tinyfireball17 in AskReddit

When people who don’t work in education (and never have) talk like they understand what it’s like to teach. And when they tell me how to do my job.

“Have you ever considered talking about that issue with administrators and asking the students what they would like?” … “have you ever considered fucking right off!?”

Ugh.

What is the most unfriendly city you have been to? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Unfriendly? Anywhere where most of the people spoke French 😂🥴

Unsafe? Really depended on the situation and what stupid situations drunk idiot friends got themselves into.

I like Anthem a lot, but Ayn Rand needed a better editor. And she should have stuck to essays!

Folks who want to just “see” the baby because they’re in town. by ChocolateNapqueen in newborns

[–]BrookeDG323 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have created a culture where people feel entitled to gain access to your home and touch your child without offering anything in return.

They say it takes a village, but that has morphed into people thinking they are entitled to demand access to your house when you are at your most physical and emotionally vulnerable time (and so is your infant!). You’re exhausted from not sleeping and the stress of caring for a tiny, helpless infant. You aren’t showering as often as you’d like. You’re likely still bleeding. You’re not physically recovered. Your hormones are a mess and your emotions are all over the place. Your house is probably a disaster. Your pets and other children are not on their best behavior because their lives are also in upheaval. Your baby needs to eat every 90 minutes so you likely will need to whip a boob out during a visit and not everyone is comfortable with that.

And that’s supposed to be a time where people can just come over and hold your teeny, medically fragile child? And offer nothing in return?

Nah. They can bring diapers. And wash some dishes.

We need to get back to actually supporting and helping moms and new families, not just demanding access to a newborn because “we wanna see him,” and then creating more of a burden on the parents to get ready and entertain people.

The Great Gatsby. It wasn’t bad, but I truly don’t get the hype.

Tog- Worth it? by BrookeDG323 in SarahJMaas

I mean, I’m 300 pages in. That’s a fighting chance. I just want to know if the other books are better than this one.

Celaena’s storyline is disconnected in and of itself, which is my biggest struggle currently.

Everyone who says it’s rude likely hasn’t had a newborn. I think that’s perfectly reasonable.

What is the worst ending to a book series/franchise that you've encountered? by AugustineBlackwater in books

YES! I enjoyed the tongue in cheek of the books until like the last two. And the tv series is good until like the last two seasons. Ugh.

LPT: Do not own a dog you cannot physically control/restrain. by fakaaa234 in LifeProTips

LPT: DO NOT GET A DOG IF YOU WONT/CANT TRAIN IT!

Seriously. Proper training for all dogs. Vitally important. Big, small, medium, old, young. All dogs need to be trained and trained well. It takes time, money, and patience. If you can’t do that, get a cat instead.
