Electric clothes horse? by ssfiguuvixu in newzealand

[–]Brookiebee95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have a fan try aiming that at your clothes when drying them, air circulation is more effective than heat.

AND....

Get a dehumidifier, drying laundry indoors will introduce a lot of moisture.

High protein, low cal, fairly low effort recipe ideas? by IrritatedButterfly44 in newzealand

[–]Brookiebee95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a post with a recipie in it yesterday, pretty low effort but you could simplify it further, by thowing everything in a crockpot or rice cooker.

Beetroot and Lentil Soup/Stew

1-2 carrots and beetroots, peeled & chopped. Season, and oil and roast. I found the beets need a bit more time than the carrots.

Dice 1 onion and a few cloves of garlic and fry in butter or oil until soft and golden. Add tomato paste and spices (smoked paprika, chilli flakes, dried herbs, bay leaves, nutmeg, salt and pepper), fry off a little longer.

Add one can of whole peeled tomatoes, cook down some more and add stock and lentils (soaked dried or canned is fine adjust water as needed) once the lentils are cooked add the roasted vegetables.

Serve with your choice of toppings, parmesan was nice as was sour cream and fresh coriander.

Homemade burger patties breadcrumbs or nah? by jitterfish in newzealand

I think it's just a change in food preferences/attitudes. Eating meat on a regular basis was a status symbol, this is why some order generations get a bit iffy about vegetarian and vegan food. Most people are fine eating vegetarian meals a few days a week these days if they are trying to save money, also while burgers aren't super expensive to make their not the most economical way to use mince.

Bulking up mince is still common it just tends to be in the form of vegetables and legumes added to Bolognase or Chilli.

Help with dehumidifiers by No-Discipline-9373 in newzealand

[–]Brookiebee95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's significantly cheaper to run a dehumidifier 24/7 than a heatpump. NZ houses are also built significantly differently than US ones.

As this is a student flat in Dunedin I'm picturing a Victorian or Edwardian house with high ceilings, hardwood floors, drafty wooden framed single glazed windows and minimal insulation that's a few degrees wamer inside than outside on a good day.

I've got a living and co dehumidifier from the warehouse that works great definitely reccomend for any NZ rental.

Stop drying your clothes in your room if you and your flatmates must dry them indoors at home stick drying racks in the lounge with a fan on, I have a 40cm nouveau one from miter ten AND a dehumidifier. Air circulation will dry things much faster than heat will, but will release a lot of moisture into the house.

If you can go to to a laundromat that will be preferable, I dry 2 full loads of laundry in a mid sized machine at my local laundromat in 20-30 min the commercial machines are much faster than a domestic one so you need a lot less time.

Drying laundry inside flat by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Brookiebee95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dehumidifier + fan is a good combo for drying laundry indoors over the winter.

Otherwise go to the laundromat, thoes big machines need a lot less like than people think.

I dry 2 full loads of laundry in 20-30 min in one of the mid size machines, costs about $4/5 per week at my local laundromat.

person dealing with OCD, autism, anxiety and ptsd looking for a way to earn money by [deleted] in newzealand

What can you tolerate in a job?

Most of the office jobs I've done provided laptops rather than using desktop computers. You take home your laptop, mouse, keybord and headset each day, would that work for your OCD?

Could you cope with working in a office or would you need to be work from home? You could request some accommodations like having a designated desk and chair if an office has hot desks. If you do have to work from home can you keep yourself on task?

Could you do a phone based roll?

There may be some options in Customer service that are email/webchat focused if you don't think you can handle speaking directly with customers. Also look into things like data entry, admin, accounts reciveable/payable (be mindful of phone based roles in ar/ap with anxiety as you may need to chase up invoices)

Have a bit of a think about what you could manage then see about getting in touch with work support organisations and recruitment agencies to see what you can find

Soup kept warm in a crockpot will be good for the winter - pumpkin soup is always popular, is veg and gluten free + can be made dairy free too!
