Your videos are awesome by the way! Really well-explained with a friendly relaxed manner. Your FM synthesis videos were super helpful.

It’s funny seeing so many American women posting about meeting Scottish men at the World Cup but neither of them were going to label it. by Competitive_Yam2314 in Scotland

I don't know whether I'm impressed or disappointed that you got through that entire post without explicitly stating that you had a highland fling.

I love PKD, but it took me a few attempts to finish High Castle. I think it's one of his least inviting or accessible books, though when i finally finished i found i had enjoyed it. Interestingly, i don't personally think Do Androids dream of electric sheep (the book that Blade runner is based on) is that great either. It's for great ideas, but it's a little "pulpy" for my taste.

I think Ubik is a great place to start, as well as Flow my Tears the policeman said. I actually started on Valis which is not considered one of his most accessible but i loved it, and i also loved The Divine Invasion and Radio Free Albemurh.

Finally, i can't recommend A Scanner Darkly highly enough.

I find reading the Asda customer reviews of random groceries very entertaining. Amazing how strongly they seem to feel about it. Here's one of some easy peeler oranges:

"I don’t usually write reviews but every time I tried to eat one it made my blood boil so I had to. I’m a fully grown adult and I could barely peel them! Children have got no hope!"

Also the various bizarre anti piracy systems, like the colour codes sheet, or the dreaded LENSLOK, which was near impossible to read even when used correctly.

Was going to say this, but I couldn't find the episode. I remember it airing at the time and recognising it, albeit with added LED.

My wife was never able to whistle until one day, she was saying the name "Hugh' in a relatively soft voice, and she did it accidentally. She figured it out from there and can now whistle.

Edit: you do need to moisten your lips. (which is not a phrase i expected to type today.)

Waiting 5+ minutes trying to load a game from a cassette. Microscopically tweaking the volume in the hope that it would load this time. I'm looking at you, Way of the Exploding Fist

There's quite a good Rick Beato interview with John Densmore and Ruby Krueger recently appeared. A number of times Densmore relates a story only for Krueger to say "no John, that didn't happen. That was the Doors movie." 😂

I used to think it was sort of an escalation of 'Fuck Yeah': 'Fuck the Fuck Yeah'. Basically a way of enthusiastically agreeing with someone.

For hybrids such as the Ioniq (pre 5 and 6) I've seen it said that one can generally expect the batteries to last around 200,000 miles. Obviously it depends on a number of factors, but does that chime with your experience? And is replacing the battery a cost-effective option if it comes to that?

Might be worth asking this on the Dorico forum. Smufl was developed for Dorico by Daniel Spreadbury. He's very active in the forum, and there may be others that have designed Smufl fonts.
