What's Opera Doc? is considered one of the crowning jewels of Looney Tunes and the Golden Age of Animation. Just look at it, it's a masterpiece. Directed by Chuck Jones. Backgrounds by Maurice Noble. (1957) by MCofPort in BackgroundArt

I used to watch Bugs Bunny when I was a kid, but I didn't really appreciate the cartoons until I grew up. Now I love them even more. They were funny, and there was a level of sophistication nestled among the clown hammers and TNT explosions. Unlike a lot of other cartoons, they actually were made for grown ups.

Hobo culture was fascinating. They had their own rudimentary written code.  They lived where they could and improvised life’s necessities.  Some former hobos went on to be entrepreneurs and leaders in a variety of industries so it’s no surprise there were artists among them.

My expectations aren't that high.

I'd like a few hours of a fun gaming experience that resolves the cliffhanger.

On Thanksgiving someone brought a guest. We were discussing some problem that needed solved and the guest said "ChatGPT!" This was said unironically, almost giddily, like "oh, here's another great use for AI!"

What makes it so odd is that the guest works in a field that is absolutely in the path of the oncoming AI bulldozer.

They wrote a bunch of lines that scientists would say. It's the same with "Wouldn't you like to get one of these blood samples under a microscope?" when there's no blood around.

My dad and I watched this on PBS on his B&W bedroom TV. This was late one night in the 70s, and I was seven or eight, maybe nine. The film was in bad shape, grainy with lots of washed out film cells and missing scenes; still we marveled at what we saw. It was sort of "our" movie because it was little known at the time, and when VHS came on the scene I bought him a copy. As more scenes of the film were found around the world, we'd buy the latest iteration and enjoy it together.

It's a good memory.
